Director of System Operations

We are currently searching for a Senior System Ops Manager to join an extremely fast growing business in London. This company make real-time ticketing and public transport timetable applications for mobile and online devices. They are always developing new apps and launching new technologies that help the public in many ways, they work in partnership with leading transit agencies in both the US and UK. With offices in London and New York and a further this great organisation continues to grow and exceed expectations.

Role

A senior manager to take responsibility for the live services, ensure their performance, drive development activities to support high availability, and to be the face of the company’s service prowess in front of customers during pre-sales and post-incident investigations. Working closely liaison with head of development, tech leads and product owners to ensure processes run smoothly.

Main Responsibilities will be:

Management of the IT budget. Looking after live servers Hosting budget OOH support Uptime/ Scalability Out of hours support/monitoring Incident management/Incident reporting OS + infrastructure updates Up-Time SLA’s: monitoring, maintaining, and reporting. Ensure service always has sufficient capacity to meet SLAs/Hosting options, eg Rackspace DR Support to business development with RFP process/ Security Vulnerability scans/penetration testing, eg. Metasploit Managing the rollout of server software updates Encourage, support and grow the DevOps strategy to allow server operations to scale Liaison with Dev to ensure requirements are understood/met. Managing relationship with account managers and developers to manage updates Review of all technologies requested by Dev team for suitability. Final call on tech to go into production deployed server stack Provide developers feedback on runtime performance Live service monitoring placing requirements on Devs to put in appropriate instrumentation Support developers in creation of scripted releases, environment setup etc… Identify load test minimum acceptable levels (via SQAP) Provide live-like data for load tests as required.
