DIRECTOR GENERAL’S FIELD VISIT TO AUCTIONABLE LIMESTONE BLOCKS IN SURYAPET, TELANGANA Sri N.Kutumba Rao, Director General, GSI, Kolkata visited the auctionable limestone Blocks in Suryapet, Telangana on 24.09.2017 to review the progress of work. The Director General has been accompanied by Sri. M.Sridhar, ADG, GSI, SR, Sri. Ch. Venkateswara Rao, DDG, SU: Telangana and Sri SMJ Basha, Director, SU: Telangana. The officials from the other organisations include: Sri Rafi Ahmad, JD, DMG, Telangana, Sri. Darshan Lal, Zonal Manager and Sri ADP Rao, Geologist MECL were also present on the occasion of Director General’s review on the auctionable Blocks. The Directorate of Mines & Geology, Telangana identified three Prospective Limestone Blocks for auction in the gap areas of existing Limestone concessions in newly formed Suryapet district of Telangana. They are 1) Saidulnama, 2) Pasupulabodu in Neredacherla (Mandal) and 3) Sultanpur in Mattampally (Mandal). The Regional Exploration Committee (REC) consisting of members from GSI, NCBM, IBM and MECL recommended geological exploration to bring to them to auctionable stage. The PCCF, Telangana has accorded forest clearance permission for two boreholes in each Block. The work has been taken up jointly by GSI and MECL under a MoU which will be signed shortly. However, the geological exploration work commenced from 11.09.2017 in the Pasupulabodu Block. The team consisting of Sri S. Ravisekara and U.Rohitatksha, Senior Surveyors, deputed from M&CS, Mangalore, geologists Sri G.Ramachandran and Kishor B. Deshmukh under the supervision of Sri K. Jagadishwar Babu guided by Sri. Ch. Venkateswara Rao, DDG, SU: Telangana are working under overall supervision of Sri. M.Sridhar, ADG, GSI, SR, Hyderabad. During the visit Sri N.Kutumba Rao, Director General has interacted with the officers and supervisory officer in the field and he involved the young officers particularly to explain the topography of the area, geology of the area and Stratigraphy of the area. DIRECTOR GENERAL’S FIELD VISIT TO AUCTIONABLE LIMESTONE BLOCKS IN SURYAPET, TELANGANA

Sri N.Kutumba Rao, Director General, GSI, Kolkata visited the auctionable limestone

Blocks in Suryapet, Telangana on 24.09.2017 to review the progress of work. The Director

General has been accompanied by Sri. M.Sridhar, ADG, GSI, SR, Sri. Ch. Venkateswara Rao,

DDG, SU: Telangana and Sri SMJ Basha, Director, SU: Telangana. The officials from the other

organisations include: Sri Rafi Ahmad, JD, DMG, Telangana, Sri. Darshan Lal, Zonal Manager

and Sri ADP Rao, Geologist MECL were also present on the occasion of Director General’s

review on the auctionable Blocks.

The Directorate of Mines & Geology, Telangana identified three Prospective Limestone

Limestone in Suryapet District. The PCCF, Telangana has accorded forest clearance

MECL under a MoU which will be signed shortly. However, the geological exploration work

The team consisting of Sri S. Ravisekara and U.Rohitatksha, Senior Surveyors,

deputed from M&CS, Mangalore, geologists Sri G.Ramachandran and Kishor B. Deshmukh

under the supervision of Sri K. Jagadishwar Babu guided by Sri. Ch. Venkateswara Rao, DDG,

SU: Telangana are working under overall supervision of Sri. M.Sridhar, ADG, GSI, SR,

Hyderabad.

During the visit Sri N.Kutumba Rao, Director General has interacted with the officers

and supervisory officer in the field and he involved the young officers particularly to explain

the topography of the area, geology of the area and Stratigraphy of the area. He explained

the significance of basin studies and the formation of limestone. He also emphasized the

importance of regional traverses to be carried out before starting the field work. He

suggested the supervisory officer try to take regional traverses with young officers to get an

idea of the regional geology. The officers explained the stratigraphy of the blocks and

criteria of selection of borehole locations.

He also conveyed the message that in the present scenario each one should work

hard work in synergy with state DGM, MECL and Industry’s. As ministry is having expectations

we should rise to the occasion. The very purpose of visiting this field is to convey how the

things are serious. Let us all work together (GSI, DGM, MECL and Industry) for the

development of nation.

Detailed mapping on 1:5000 scale has been completed in Pasupulabodu Block covering

an area of 1.399sq km. Two Borehole locations namely TSPS-1 and TSPS-2 were fixed on

ground shown to MECL officials in the presence of the Director General Sri N. Kutumba Rao.

The detailed geological map of Pasupulabodu Block along with the locations of additional

boreholes needed for the further exploration of G3/G2 was also handed over to MECL

authorities by the Director General in presence of State DGM officials.

Sri M.Sridhar, Additional Director General and HOD appreciated the efforts put by

officers in initiation of the task and advised to complete the task within the time line.
