Introduction NATS introduces Direct Route Airspace in the Scottish FIR on 5 March 2015
Over 300 Flight Plannable Direct Routes (DCTs) will be made available to the east of the 10 West boundary from 5 March 2015. The new DCTs will allow airspace users to flight plan DCTs that were previously only available on a tactical basis. This will save fuel, reduce pilot-controller interactions and introduce procedural safety assurance. In addition, Danger Area Avoidance DCTs have also been created to enable airspace users to flight plan around the Danger Areas and Military Exercise Areas when they are active. DRA airspace is FL255 and above, below FL255 the airway structure exists. The DRA DCTs published within the RAD Appendix 4 can be used as per their published levels, which in some cases is below FL255 in order to allow for descent/climb profiles or to allow connectivity where airways do not exist.

Purpose of this guide Charts for each entry way point DCT and each Danger Area avoidance DCT in the Direct Route Airspace (DRA)
This guide shows all the DCTs from each entry waypoint of the Direct Route Airspace as well as Danger Area Avoidance DCTs that can be used to flight plan around the Danger Areas as required. This document is effective from 5 March 2015 to 28 May 2015. For more information, please refer to ….
