How you will be assessed Assessment methods within this qualification include an on-screen multiple-choice examination for the mandatory units and marked practical and theory assignments for the optional units. The on- screen multiple-choice examination is set by EAL and marked by EAL. The internal assessment is set by EAL and marked by members of the delivery team at the Centre. Could lead to careers such asMaintenance Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and Electrical Engineer roles within the rail sector.

Cost£5,421 full funding available via 19+ Advanced Learner Loans nothing to pay back until earnings are over £25,000.

EligibilityTo be eligible for the loan, you must be 19 or older on the first day of your course (there’s no upper age limit), be living in the UK on the first day of your course, and have lived in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man for 3 years immediately before this, and you must hold a valid UK/EU passport or original birth certificate.

Course duration20 weeks. 2 days per week. It will be delivered with combined knowledge and competence.

Any other informationLearners should have a good standard of literacy and numeracy to comply with the health and safety aspects of the scheme, the completion of the learning outcomes, and the assessments.

After successfully completing the course, the learner will be invited to a medical for drug and alcohol testing. Only those who pass will then need to attend a further 2-week course across 10 days, Monday to Friday, to complete their PTS training with an exam.
