- Edited an online database module describing interleukin-12 signaling for an open-access curated pathway database

Michigan State University Graduate Research Assistant, Cell and Molecular Biology Program (2007-2014) - Conducted basic and translational research focused on the development of novel cancer and HIV vaccine

platforms; under the direction of Dr. Andrea Amalfitano - Other research topics investigated include: HIV/AIDS patients poorly responsive to current therapies,

immunogenetics of ankylosing spondylitis, and mammalian Toll-like receptor innate immune responses - Taught >10 undergraduate and junior graduate students the methodology of preparing biological samples,

running genetic and immunologic laboratory tests, and analyzing/presenting/reporting data obtained from these experiments

Vice President of External Affairs, Council of Graduate Students (2013-2014) - Elected as academic government board member to represent the >11,000 graduate, medical, and other

professional students at the university (also served as program representative for 2 years prior) - Met with the university president, deans, and other faculty members to advocate for a wide variety of

Teaching Assistant, HM 561 – Basic Principles of Pathology (2010) - One of two medical students selected to help teach the laboratory component of a first-year allopathic and

osteopathic medical student pathology course - Answered student questions involving the identification and analysis of gross and microscopic human

pathology specimens - Reviewed interactive pathology laboratory media and quiz material with course instructors

State/National Organizations

National Fellowship Application Reviewer, Graduate Women in Science (2013-2014) - Appointed as a senior graduate student researcher to review and critique graduate and post-doctoral

fellowship applications for a national women’s professional organization

Research Judge, Michigan Osteopathic Association Spring Scientific Convention (2012, 2015) - Reviewed abstracts and critiqued student, intern, and resident poster presentations at annual medical

research conference - Participated in convention planning committee for months prior to conference
