PAPER PROTOTYPES
User Testing Results:Changes to improve:— Can remove preparation style, per-haps give healthy choice option.
— Categorize dinner suggestions by Appetizer, Entree, Soup, ... etc.
— Remove screen 9. Build dietary con-sideration into profile. Provide option if users are looking for someone else.
— Clear on whether eating at home, picking up food, or eating out.
— Need to provide option for radius to travel.

Participant IntroductionHi, Vi. My name is Minh, and I’m going to be walking you through this session.
You probably already know, but let me explain why I’ve asked you to come here today: I’ve testing an app that I’m working on to see what it’s like for actual people to use it. I’d like to make it clear that we’re testing the app, not you. You can’t do anything wrong here. In fact, this is probably the one place today where you don’t have to worry about making mistakes.
I need to hear what you think, so please don’t worry that you’re going to hurt feelings. I want to improve it, so I need to know honestly what you think.
If you have questions, please ask. Since we’re interested in how people do when they don’t have someone sitting next to them, but I will try to answer any questions you still have when we’re done.
Background information questionsI’d like to ask you just a few quick questions. First, what’s your occupation?
I’m an IT manager.Good. Now, roughly how many hours a week would you say you spend using the Internet, including email?
Let’s see... about this, I’ve haven’t really kept track. Being on the Internet, almost every evening, around three to four hours. As of email, as many hours when at work.
How do you spend that time? In a typical day, for in-stance, tell me what you do, at work and at home.
I checked the news, Facebook, YouTube.
Do you have any favorite Web sites?
I’d say... Google images, YouTube, ...
How do you feel about buying things on the Internet?
It’s very convenient to buy things on the Net.
And what have you bought?
I bought memory drives, computer gadgets, laptops.
OK, great. We’re done with the questions. We can start looking at things.
Introduce task — Usability testFirst, please look at this app and tell me what you think it is, what strikes you about it.
I like the landing page. It’s very much looks like other app, nothing is really striking.
On these pages, please tell me what you would click on? (Going through the pages.)
I think the pages are pretty straight forward. The ques-tions help to define what button to click on according to my choices.
Do you like the set up?
I think they are pretty standard.
Anything you feel could improved?
Nothing I can think of for now. I’ll tell you later if I re-membered anything.
Task completion and questionnaireThank you, Vi. That completes the tasks.
I have a brief questionnaire here that I’d like you to com-plete. The information you provide is for my use only.
DebriefIf you have any comments or questions about today’s session, please let us know. Thank you for coming today.
USABILITY TESTING SCRIPT
User Testing Results:Reports
Reports on my subjects:
1 — Kambelz: is a part-time recruiter
Since this is only a test, I cannot fully go to other links, but everything looked OK. A simpler back-ground could be better.2 — Belouci: is a free-lance interpreter
Because the test pages are in grey tones, it’s hard to imagine how the colors will play on the final app. Flipping through it makes me feel as watching an old black and white movie.3 — Tuong Vi: is an IT manager
Like the overall looks. However, the contrast on the “What mood” page and the “Restaurant info” might need a little boost. 4 — Hai Phuon: is a retired poet
Good logo. If I could see the app in colors...5 — Ajame: is a student, has graduated
Looks real as it is for now. Nothing to suggest.
Results
Changes needed:— Change the appearance of the buttons. Make them in a flat and lighter color.
— Increase the contrast on many pages. Pay attention to how colors will play on the contrast of the appearance.
— Change the brown color tone.
— Use simpler icon set.
