Digital Illustration Workshops: Aim & Purpose

• To develop skills in the creation of digital drawings and artwork which supports the overall design and development processes of the Fashion & Textiles course.

• To understand and implement professional techniques used in the Fashion industry.

• To enhance the production of your work in order to create more professional outcomes, and relate these to your wider assignments.

• To build confidence in using digital skills in professional creative packages such as Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.

Adobe Illustrator:

• Illustrator is a professional illustration package used throughout industry.

• Fashion designers will initially draw out ideas on paper.

• Digital artists will then reproduce these ideas in the digital environment.

• Designs will then go into the print process for printing and distribution.

• Your role in these sessions is to build your skills to a level where you are producing ‘professional level’ digital illustrations.

Aims: Workshop 1:

• You will work in pairs of more advanced learner and a beginner.

• You will understand the Adobe Illustrator workspace and some of the common drawing tools.

• You will have a basic understanding of the Pencil tool and how it can be used to draw digitally.

• You will be able to use basic graphics tablet skills.

• You will create a number of basic fashion drawings based provided sketch templates.

• More advanced users will explore the use of the Pen, fill and painting tools.

Development Files: Sketch 1, 2 & 3More advanced users can use their own images or develop their own artwork
