The trick is to find the right balance in the tension between Stability and Agility for execution. The world is on a race track that is constantly speeding up. If it exists it will soon be legacy. Deloitte - Every enterprise should challenge their employees to think beyond the “what” of digital innovation to the “so what”—how you will harness emerging trends, innovation, and disruption to create real business value. Gartner(updated) – An established enterprise should operate in a mixed bi-modal manner so that – they can run in a predictable, reliable, risk averse, standards oriented way with strict governance to generate predictable results as Mode 1; in Mode 2 they run in an exploratory, adaptable way with no fixed rules mixed in with a large dose of managed risk taking, to leverage new technologies and concepts to successfully differentiate, innovate and compete with new startup leaders focused on niches/untapped markets.
