Digital Design: Mood Boards   I’m exploring the metaphor of space as a drinking environment. To illustrate the changing moods of different classes of drink, I have chosen five distinct drinking cultures and matched each with a word: Enclosure, Exposure, Containment, Transition and Array.  I’ve made five documents to serve as inspirational Mood Boards based on vintage French posters for use in designing an advertising campaign for each word/drink pairing.   I have illustrated the concept of ENCLOSURE using hot drinks like hot chocolate, coffee or espresso drinks. These drinks bring to mind a cozy, warm, and intimate feeling which also evoke mountain vacations.  EXPOSURE brings to mind the process of education and becoming knowledgeable about the world. For this reason, I have chosen to illustrate this using wine and by extension the world of Culture – fine drinks, food, and company.  The world of Gin & Tonics, Gentlemen’s Clubs and cigars is an excellent metaphor for the concept of CONTAINMENT. These clubs and relationships serve to bond men and also exclude women, containing these manly practices to a select group.  Young people are in TRANSITION and for this reason I chose to portray them as partaking in adolescent behavior including drinking starter alcoholic drinks like Zima and wine coolers.  ARRAY is a regular arrangement or progression of elements, and the beer culture with its orderly barstools and taps is a good illustration of this concept.
