ANALYZING DIGIPAK ALBUM COVERS

Digipak Album Introduction Digipaks is a patent style of a compacted disc cover or

DVD packaging which is registered as a trademark of media. Digipaks usually consist of a book-style paperboard with one plastic trays capable of holding a CD or a DVD cover attached inside.

Digipaks packaging are often used in CD singles and special editions of the CD album. Its useful for CD singles this is because digipaks packaging are less resistant.

Here are a few examples of digipaks images which give audiences an idea of what they look like and how they’re useful of CD covers and DVD etc.

What are the common elements ?

I’ve researched six different indie genre album covers and I found that four album have images of the band. Top loader, Veni Vidi Vicious, The Kooks and Peter Bjorn and John. These 4 albums have the common elements this is because the images of the band show audiences their appearance which helps audiences understand that the use of costume and their positioning fit into the indie genre. The titling of the album is always positioned onto the top whereas the name of the artist/band is always positioned onto to the bottom. This gives us a hint that

I’ve also had a look at two more indie genre album covers which has common similarities between each other. I found that these two album covers both have couples and the connotations used in these albums show a black and white colour which connotes depression and relationship breakdown.

These two albums are the only album covers that do not have images of the band this signifies to audience that they’re lyrics and visuals are based on relationship which has either broken down or emotional.

This is the front cover of the album usually it has images of the artist which sells his image to audiences who are willing to buy

Back cover of the Digipak this often shows audiences the names of the track and the time it finishes.
