  • IGI DigiCAMThe new IGI DigiCAM is a series of airborne digitalcamera systems for fast and affordable digital aerialphotography. The DigiCAM systems are based onapproved digital cameras of well-establishedmanufacturers. By using IGI's core competence inairborne developments, the digital cameras aremodified and improved by IGI for airborneconditions and aerial survey applications. Togetherwith IGI's CCNS4 and AEROcontrol systems theDigiCAM series build a complete solution for anextremely fast and automated workflow for thegeneration of directly geo-referenced images.

    DigiCAM performance features and benefits:

    Affordable digital camera system.

Very fast results of aerial survey missions.

Integration with the IGI CCNS4 aircraftguidance and sensor management systemoffering fully automated operations.

Automated release of the DigiCAM exposure atpre-planned positions.

    Fully calibrated camera system.

    Compliance of a predefined overlap.

    Extreme stable and robust housing.

Integration with IGI's AEROcontrol for DirectGeo-referencing (DG) and Integrated SensorOrientation (ISO).

    Compact design.

Loss free raw data format of photographs.

Integrates smoothly with the LiteMapper lasermapping series of IGI.

Double sensor head configuration possible forfaster flying speeds resulting in an increasedefficiency due to less flying time.

The DigiCAM and AEROcontrol build theperfect combination for orthophoto productionof aerial surveys within one day. AEROcontrolis the GPS/IMU positioning and orientationsystem of IGI.

DigiCAM mounting possibilities:- in camera hole- together with a stabilized mount- together with a laser scanner- in an external sensor pod- instead of airborne navigation telescope

Increased resolution and extreme short photodelays are possible by a dual DigiCAMconfiguration. The specially designed dualconfiguration provides the possibility to mount

two DigiCAM into one standard camera mountor stabilized mount for easy operations.

    Available types of DigiCAM systems:

DigiCAM 14K series single or dual system DigiCAM 16R series single or dual system DigiCAM 22R series single or dual system DigiCAM 16RI series with up to 4 sensors DigiCAM 22RI series with up to 4 sensors

For DigiCAM R & RI series see separate brochure.

    DigiCAM 14K

The DigiCAM 14K is the most affordable digitalcamera system for aerial survey applications in theinternational market. The DigiCAM 14K is based on a Kodak DCSProfessional SLR digital camera offering aresolution of 14 M-pixel. It is equipped with aCMOS sensor at size: 3.000 x 4.500 pixel.Alternatively, the sensor can be installed alongtrack or cross track and has the full-sizedimensions of the classical 35mm film format.

DigiCAM 14K unit with Nikon lens-cone.

  • A range of lens cones for different applicationswith various focal lengths are available for theDigiCAM 14K.

Example of a DigiCAM lens-cone:Nikkor 28mm f / 1.4 D lens cone speciallydesigned for digital cameras with high precisionlenses and high luminous intensity. The cone ismodified by IGI with a fixed focal length designedfor operations together with a laser scanner e.g.IGI's LiteMapper.

IGI DigiCAM 14K together with AEROcontrolIMU-IId and GSM-3000 stabilized mount. The AEROcontrol IMU-IId is mounted on anadaptation plate. In configuration with oneDigiCAM 14K unit the IMU can as well bemounted inside the sensor pot beside theDigiCAM 14K. A DigiCAM 14K DUALconfiguration with two sensor heads is applicableas well.

    DigiCAM 14K applications:

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Remote sensing

    e.g. power-lines, pipelines, highways,streets, corridors, etc.

    Rapid response applications Infrastructure applications

    Extreme cost advantages:

Favorably priced high value digital camerasystem for aerial survey applications. Paysfor itself within first project.

Compact and lightweight design for smallaircraft or helicopters.

Pilot-only operation possible No costs for film or scanning DigiCAM system is rapidly operational and

reduces the workflow with direct data importinto digital photogrammetric systems andimaging applications.

Increased radiometry allows more flyingdays and more flying hours per day.

    Compatibility advantages:

Full CCNS4 compatibility Direct Georeferencing with AEROcontrol Perfect complement for LiteMapper

systems Fits to any stabilized sensor mount Digital images can be directly imported into

    digital photogrammetric systems.
