reith all of his desins, Christopher Dela ole has one basic concept: keep

thins as simple as possible. ts that idea that oes into his desin company

Squared Furniture in inneapolis and one of its most popular pieces--the palm tree

oatin shelvin unit.

n eleant, yet parred down solution for lifes minutia, the shelvin unit is made

from just one sinle stick of aluminum bar stock and four solid walnut palms to ive

the illusion of a palm tree. he palm came from the idea that thins dont need to be

complicated, that sometimes the more simple the better, Dela ole said.

Dela ole came up with the idea for the palm tree as he tried to think of a

desin where he could set his keys, put his mail, phone and everythin in-between.

ith ve palms on the tree, Dela ole sees the desin like diits on a hand. t is

like an outstretched hand to meet you at the door, said Dela ole.

s the piece has become more popular, Squared Furniture has beun to make

the unit more customizable. hile people have always been able to choose which

way they would like each palm to be facin, the company has beun to ive

customers even more options.

t will showcase at Dwell on Desin at the end of June, the est Coasts larest

desin event, with new choices that include aluminum bar stock in all different

colors and white oak palms. really wanted to make sure that the desin was

accessible to everyone, said Dela ole.

t five feet tall, the alm ree currently costs $275 and is available to order

on the companys website and other desin websites such as rypen.com and

decorate.com.

not sure about that, havent seen too many shelvin units that han on a wall and

are sinular like ours. think that makes the piece pretty unique.
