Thanks to self kerning and modern uses of the kerning tool, making a headline font is much easier to do. Kerning can either help or hurt a design. But if it is used cor-rectly then it should be very easy help bring together an ad. In this case, Didot is used as the typeface for the magazine Vogue. Why, because Didot
is looks elegant, and it has a romantic and sophisticated feel. We easily recognize the title and many recognize the font–in which is has always been used as the display font for Vogue magazine. Together, they go hand-in-hand–and if it was not kerned, it wouldn’t be as successful.

Didot gives text a classic and elegant feel–These faces are characterized by vertical stress, abrupt changes from thick to thin strokes and hairline serifs. The typeface takes inspiration from John Baskerville’s experi-mentation with increasing stroke contrast and a more condensed armature.
