� INTRODUCCIÓN: La presente unidad didáctica enseña al alumnado de 3º de Educación
Secundaria Obligatoria a hacer comparaciones entre personas y cosas diferentes que ellos/as ven cada día a través de un amplio abanico de actividades: conversación sobre una casa, diálogos, textos socioculturales, etc. Estos ejercicios también les permite revisar tiempos verbales ya estudiados, como el Presente Simple y el Presente Continuo y el verbo to be (ser o estar).
OBJETIVOS:
- Practicar la pronunciación de schwa /ə/ en –er and –est en adjetivos
comparativos y superlativos.
- Participar en tareas en pareja y en grupo.
- Escuchar y entender los textos de la unidad, uno sobre el Partenón de Atenas y
el otro sobre dos ciudades populares: Budapest y Praga.
- Usar diferentes fuentes de información (Internet, folletos para la tarea final).
- Escribir composiciones usando los contenidos de la unidad.
COMPETENCIAS BÁSICAS:
1. COMPETENCIA DE COMUNICACIÓN LINGÜÍSTICA.
Esta unidad se centra en la categoría gramatical de los adjetivos en Inglés para hacer
comparaciones entre dos ó más cosas o personas.
2. COMPETENCIA EN EL CONOCIMIENTO Y LA INTERACCIÓN CON EL MUNDO FÍSICO. El alumnado va a describir lugares y personas de diferentes países usando los adjetivos
comparativos y superlativos.
3. TRATAMIENTO DE LA INFORMACIÓN Y COMPETENCIA DIGITAL.
Se pone en práctica en este caso a través de una página web acerca de Guinness World
Records para buscar ejemplos de adjetivos superlativos. Además también se hace uso de
la Sala de Informática para buscar monumentos populares en tres países distintos.
4. COMPETENCIA CULTURAL Y ARTÍSTICA.
Se manifiesta con frecuencia en esta unidad, pues se mencionan y trabajan con distintos
aspectos culturales de diversos países, como edificios (universidad, torre, museo,…) y

Escuchar un pequeño extracto sobre el Partenón de Atenas; conversar con el
compañero/a acerca de la gente de la clase y ciertos lugares de España.

Leer un texto sobre Praga y Budapest; escribir frases y párrafos cortos usando los
adjetivos comparativos y superlativos.
BLOQUE 3: Reflexión sobre la lengua y su aprendizaje.
Aprender algunos adjetivos y vocabulario de la unidad; practicar la pronunciación de /ə/
en la terminación –er/-est de los adjetivos comparativos y superlativos; revisar el
Presente Simple y Presente Continuo.
BLOQUE 4: Conocimiento social y cultural.
Leer información específica (edad, altura,…) de monumentos populares del mundo,

In pairs, choose three of the following countries and surf the Internet to
look for some of the most popular monuments. Make sentences using the superlative. Countries you can select are the following: Egypt, India, Brasil, China, USA, Moscow, Holland. You can make use of this Web Page http://www.greatbuildings.com. On it, you will find a lot of information about architecture of the three countries you chose from those given to you and some of the most popular buildings. Go to the square saying Name of place and write on it your three countries (one by one). Then, click on Search for places... and you will get information about their buildings and other data about them, like architect, location, date, style,...
Once you have done this activity, go round the class and, in pairs, find other three students that have chosen the same countries as you and your partner. Work in group of five students and get brochures from a travel agency or from the net that serve you as a model to do your poster. In it, you must include pictures of monuments that you can visit in those places and other information about them like location, facilities, main tourist attractions, etc. Then, put all these data on three different cards and, finally, on a separate sheet, make comparisons and emphasize the most important features of each of them. At the end, you must make an oral presentation. Three students will talk about the three different places, another one will say three of the four sentences comparing some aspects of the countries, and the last one will make use of the superlative in order to focus on the most relevant features to a higher degree than those of the two other countries.
