Society of Apothecaries of London Applications for the Gillson scholarship in pathology are in- vited from candidates under 35, who are licentiates or freemen of the Society, or who become either within six months of elec- tion to the scholarship. Occupational Disease The Industrial Injuries Advisory Council has been asked by the Secretary of State for Social Services to-consider whether any changes should be made to the list of prescribed industrial diseases under the Social Security industrial injuries scheme, and whether industrial injuries benefits should be made avail- able to any individual who can show that his disease is occupa- tional in origin. The schedule of prescribed industrial diseases lists 47 different diseases (including injuries not caused by acci- dent) and the occupations to which they apply. It was last reviewed 20 years ago, since when a number of new diseases have been added and changes made to other diseases. The Council will give special attention to the possibility of simplify- ing the definitions of the prescribed diseases and of removing any restrictive conditions in them. Travel Award for Consultants An award scheme for consultant surgeons and anaathetists has been launched by the Surgikos Division of Johnson & Johnson. The award is supported by the Association of Sur- geons -of Great Britain and Ireland and its aim is to assist con- sultants to undertake study and research in Britain or in other European countries. The value of the award is [1200 and this will be allocated in separate amounts to successful applicants. Application forms, which must be submitted by Nov. 30, 1978, are available from Surgikos Travel Award 1978, 2 Seaforth Place, Buckingham Gate, London SW1E 6JP. The 8th Congress of the European Society of Neuroradiology will be held in Strasbourg on Sept. 7-8, 1979. The Secretary General of the Society is Prof. A.
