Diary log-week 5

In this week I targeted my research onto who specifically was my target audience, what conventions they would like to see in my final product and the overall expectation of what dictates a successful short film. To initiate this task I utilised a form of communication with my audience called ‘VOX Pops’ aka; ‘Voice of the people.’ I achieved this by

asking them questions which correlate to the desired outcome of my final product and videoing their responses. This resulted in me gaining significant knowledge into what conventions I should incorporate into the final product of my short film.

I then took further measures to solidify these views from my audience by conducting a questionnaire. This consisted of 5 essential questions which dictated how I would change my product. A variety of respondents resulting in a degree of fluctuating answers but overall the majority attitude to the short film was in the direction I wanted to take it. The questionnaire was useful as it built upon the foundation knowledge I acquired about my audience in the Vox Pop’s and would help

me target them further by conforming to their expected conventions.
