It was a close game but the boys managed to take home the coveted trophy (pictured below) and will now go through to the West Midlands finals in March . Well done James Price, Will Ross, AJ Halliwell, Adam Thomas! The good news doesn’t stop there; our U16 girls badminton were silver medallists in the County School Games Finals on Wednesday 31 January. They lost out against Newport but all of the scores were very close! Congrats to Megan Leak, Megan Birt, Issy Broadley and Lauren Hickinbottom!

    The U14 boys badminton team won the County School Games Finals

    on Tuesday 30 January. It was a close game but the boys managed

    to take home the coveted trophy (pictured below) and will now go through

    to the West Midlands finals in March. Well done James Price, Will

    J L EDWARDS 2018 AWARDS SCHEME

    A reminder to all students that the deadline for applications for a J L

    Edwards Award is Friday 16 February. If you have a hobby, sporting

    interest or are planning a trip that you need an help to pay for, then

    pick up an application form from Mrs Cloud.

    DUKE OF EDINBURGH EXPEDITION

    A reminder of Duke of Edinburgh Expedition training in the next few weeks:

    The next meeting for Group 1 is on Tuesday 6 February 2018.The next meeting for Group 2 is on Tuesday 13 February 2018

    Participants who miss training meetings run the risk of not being allowed to take part in the expedition for safety reasons.

    Participants need to bring their information booklets to the meetings.

    MATHS CLINIC

    Clinics take place every Wednesday in Room 004, from 15.30 to

    17.00. For anyone in school who would like some help with their

    maths, or to do some revision for tests or exams.

    There will be sessions running every Monday after school from 15.30 - 17.00 for any Year 11 textiles students who need any assistance. Please drop by if you have any questions!

    DROP IT AND READ

    Drop it and Read for Years 7 - 9 will be on Wednesday 7 February Period 5 & Friday 9 February Period 1. Remember to bring a book to read during lesson!

    You may bring a book from home or check out a book from the library if you do not have a one.

    If you are rewarded with a Head’s Commendation certificate, please be

    sure to visit the Head’s Office at break time on Fridays to meet with

    a member of the Leadership Team and get it signed. Only certificates

    signed by Mr Renwick or an Assistant Head Teacher will be recorded on

    Class Charts and the points added to your records. Remember, every

    point counts towards your final score and that of your House!

    On Monday 5 February - Sarah Spilsbury, Shropshire Schools Adviser, will be coming in to do a talk about

    planning CV's and looking into the future - aimed at Year 10 and Year 11 students. This will take place in

    the CLT from 14.10 - 14.30.

    Careers interviews next week with Mrs Lawrence will be on Tuesday 6 February. All interviews will take

    place in the room adjacent to Miss Lacey’s Office.

    ASPIRING DOCTORS’ PROGRAMME 2018

    Anyone aged 14-18 who is interested in a career in medicine?

    The Aspiring Doctors' Programme will take place on Wednesday 30 May 2018. It is a one day work experience event aimed at students aged 14+ who express an interest in medicine - and in particular psychiatry.
