Margaret is a 2nd generation Salvationist through her mother, who was Singing Company Leader and her father who was Bandmaster in the local corps. Peter is a 1st generation Salvationist who was introduced to The Salvation Army through the local Sunday school in Hamilton, going on to join the Hamilton Temple Band at the age of 14. Margaret and Peter first met in May 1950 when the Perth Songster Brigade paid a weekend visit to Hamilton. Margaret and her friend Ruby Nellist were billeted with Peter's parents. (Coincidentally Rubys parents were former Commanding Officers of Ayr Corps). Margaret instantly found favour in the Graham family and was invited to visit again which she did and that was the start of a long road of happiness which culminated in marriage 6 years later in the Perth Salvation Army Citadel. Margaret and Peter made their home in Hamilton where two years later their first son Peter John was born, followed by Paul after two more years. In 1969 they were advised by their doctor that for the benefit of Paul's asthma, to move to the coast which they did. They bought a house in Prestwick and immediately connected with the Corps in Ayr. One year later to their delight Gillian their daughter was born. The boys too were delighted to have a baby sister. Now complete as a family and settled down - they made new friends and served the Lord in Ayr, taking part in the corps activities, both young people and senior sections, as bandsman, songsters and junior musicians. Inevitably, through time, each one of the children went to university and then to jobs in London, New York and Manchester. Today Peter lives in Manchester with Janey his wife, son Ryan and daughter Megan. Paul lives in London with his wife Sheila, son Ross and daughter Caitlin. Gillian also lives in London with her husband Brian, daughter Emily and son Andrew. To celebrate their Diamond Wedding, Peter, Margaret and all the family are looking forward to going on a cruise of the Baltic later in August, all 14 of them!! Congratulation to Peter and Margaret from all the church fellowship.
