Update of news from the Diamond Creek Football & Netball Club

The season is now underway and what a great start to the season with all 3 football teams having a win with mixed results for the netballers over the past 2 weeks.

Social Scene - Upcoming Events Past Players and Life Members luncheon day is this Saturday for the home games against Fitzroy Stars and Kilmore. It would be great to see as many familiar faces as possible. If you require further details, contact Cailem O’Connor 0408 090 378. Due to the changes in fixture we have had to review function dates, rebook entertainment and assess the home game dates and thus the delay in the new functions and events calendar, so stay tuned. Reminder that the members draw starts this Thursday, draw is between 8:00 and 8:30 with $100 up for grabs, member needs to be present in rooms to collect or prize cumulatively jackpots to following week. Congratulation to Russell Wingrave on taking out inaugural weekly Diamond 45 prize of $450.

Football

Seniors With the long awaited Round 1 finally here, our boys with several new faces in our side travelled away to take on Panton Hill in a twilight game. It was very pleasing to see strengths in all aspects of our game. The back line led by Hugh Kavanagh and Bryce Adams held strong in a physical game. Another Kavanagh Rory made the most of opportunities in the forward line and our mid field was dominant most of the game. There is room for improvement and we look forward to hosting Fitzroy Stars this week.

Under 19 The Under 19s were dominant against an undermanned Panton Hill side. We came out of the blocks well and never looked back. Cam Dowse was strong up forward with 8 goals with 7 others contributing to the score card. Netball With 2 weeks down of the grading matches it has been a mixed bag of results for our girls with Diamond Creek 1 playing in Division 1 with a win and a loss and Division 2 Grading Teams Diamond Creek 2 and 3 suffering losses both weeks and Division 3 Grading Team Diamond Creek 4 having a Bye and a loss.
