Introducing the new Sykes-Pickavant “SPe” Automotive Electronic Service Tool

Electronic service work on today’s modern vehicles can be complicated but with the new solution from Sykes-Pickavant SPe - this is safer and easier.

SPe is an advanced handheld Automotive Electronic Service Device, for use on all vehicles equipped with an EOBD socket, which have modern electronic service functionality built-in.

SPe has its own internal battery, which is re-charged from the connected vehicle, giving up to one hour usage as a stand alone device. Once SPe is switched on, select the vehicle to work on and SPe then

guides the operator to fi nd the EOBD socket (Ref B)

The on board internal memory can allow for later review of the previous TEN service and diagnostic

events completed.

The actual functions the SPe displays are specifi c to the selected vehicle only, removing any confusion

over what tasks are and are not possible.(Ref C)

SPe is able to carry out a huge range of electronic service functions on the vehicle, from everyday health checking, to less common service tasks such as the regeneration of Diesel Particulate Filters.

SPe will allow safe work on key systems such as Electronic Parking Brakes and Steering Angle Reset through to vehicle system diagnostics with no ill effects to essential ECU operations.

Select the function you wish to perform and then select the parameters you wish to record. You can also select the sampling rate at which you wish to record. Connect to the vehicle and you can now record up to 90 hours of data. For each vehicle you wish to road test, you can select a new set of functions and parameters.

The special patented design of the Expansion Plugs, features a tapering rubber cone to fi t a variety of radiator and header tank neck diameters. With a range of just 5 plug sizes, it is possible to cover a very wide range of applications, from small cars through to commercial vehicles and heavy plant.The Safety Retaining Clamp has been specially designed to provide added safety in certain applications, e.g. plastic expansion bottles, situations of extreme cold, or very high water temperatures, and when it is not practical to fully clean the surfaces of the aperture neck. The Safety Retaining Clamp greatly reduces the risk of the expansion clamp slipping from its fi xed position, particularly under high pressure, and it is recommended to be used for all applications.Blanking caps are also provided with the ‘319’ series System Testers, in order to perform Radiator Sealing tests, off the vehicle. Temperature testing can be carried out by using the Thermometer in conjunction with the appropriate expansion plug and by observing the change (or lack of change) in the fl uid temperature and by measuring the rate of change of temperature.
