• Choose a student you had this last school year who was not a proficient reader for your grade level.

• Journal for a few minutes about the strengths and weaknesses as a reader for that student

What do good readers do?

• This assessment is based on what good readers do.

• This assessment will tell you the strengths and weaknesses of each reader in your classroom.

• Field tested and developed with real teacher input.

• Get in groups of 2 and make a list of what good readers do.

• There are also interpretation and reflection questions.

• Nonfiction-may have to fill out graphic organizer, ask questions before reading.
