Stay-home senior care can not only reduce the expenses but also maintain the autonomy and independence within the comfort of their own homes, as long as the appropriate in-home support service system is available.

The elderly population (more than 65) was 2,616,528 at the end of Feb 2013 accounting for 11.2% of the total. The CEPD estimates the elderly will double to 20.6% in 2026.

EEWH-BC (Basic) is the fundamental framework of the EEWH family, which covers four categories (Ecology, Energy Saving, Waste reduction, and Health) and nine indicators.

    EEWH-BCFor general GB practices

    EEWH-RSFor residential

    buildings

EEWH-RS (Residential buildings) is the evaluation method dedicated for residential buildings.

EEWH-GF (Green Factory) is the evaluation system that focuses on factory buildings of Taiwan to improve the energy saving design and green building practices.

    EEWH-GFFor green factory

Extension of the GB Evaluation System Family

The EEWH evaluation system family developed in 2013 can be applied into a variety of building and community projects, expectedly influencing more than 90% building market of Taiwan.

EEWH-EC (Eco-Community) is the evaluation system for community development covering five categories (ecology, energy saving and waste reduction, health and comfort, function, as well as safety and maintenance.

EEWH-RN (Renovation) is to evaluate the performance improvement based on EEWH categories and actual carbon reduction assessment. The system is aimed to effectively enhance the environmental performance of such an enormous amount of existing buildings

Renovation benefits covering energy saving, water conservation, carbon reduction, waste reduction and environmental protection should be simultaneously considered. To date, a total of 185 projects has been completed. These demonstrative projects also progressively expanded the effects to promote the green remodeling for existing buildings.

Overview of Intelligent GB Industry in Taiwan

  • Architecture and Building Research Institute, MOI 26

    1. Strengthening the promotion of green building label certification through incorporating existing buildings and communities into the scope of evaluation and simplifying the evaluation contents and procedures.

    2. Mandatory green building design will be extended into the publicly-owned buildings under the cost of 50 million NTD.

    3. Continually improving building energy efficiencyand existing building performance.

    4. Propagating the green building concept through continually conducting green building technical tours and making promotional videos for media propaganda.

Strengthening the promotion of building energysaving and carbon reduction

  • Architecture and Building Research Institute, MOI 27

Actively Promoting the Intelligent Green Building1. Promoting the green convenience store certification to

accomplish 9,800 store certification by 2013.2. Strengthening the promotion of intelligent building

label certification through simplifying evaluation contents and procedures to encourage the adoption of intelligent equipment and better practices.

    3. Increase the floor area incentives through urban renewal process to encourage intelligent building design and green building certification (silver and above) by 10% additional floor area spaces.

    4. Promoting affordable public housing and World University Games athletes village projects through adequately introducing intelligent facilities in consideration with the characteristics and affordability of residents to enhance overall living quality.

    5. Conducting the demonstrative intelligent improvement projects for existing buildings to enhance the building quality and to facilitate the industry development.

    MOEA Chia-Yi R&D Center

    Crystal House

    6. Promote the adoption of intelligent building design in the public sector. Mandatory certification will be launched in July 2013, for the project which cost exceeds 200 million NTD.

  • Architecture and Building Research Institute, MOI 28

    1. Intelligent Green Building is aimed to propose the new vision of an intelligent and green lifestyle with considering building energy efficiency and environmental sustainability and taking advantage of the ICT industrial competitiveness of Taiwan.

    2. The promotion of Green Building label in Taiwan driven by all new publicly-owned buildings has successfully urged the private sector to pursue better green building practices. The effect of energy saving has now reached 20% and water conservation more than 30%.

    3. The EEWH evaluation system family will continually extend its assessment scope to gradually facilitate ecological environment protection, energy saving, and carbon reduction.

    4. The Intelligent Green Building promotion is one of the major tasks of the ABRI. Through the simultaneous promotion in both intelligent building and green building certifications, a better living environment of safety, health, energy efficiency, sustainability, convenience, and comfort, can be further achieved.
