Lovell, command module pilot John L. "Jack" Swigert, and Fred W. Haise, lunar module pilot.</p></li><li><p>The launch took place on April 11, 1970 at 13:13 p.m.</p></li><li><p>Two days later, while he was on his way to the Moon mission, a failure of the electrical system of one of the oxygen tanks of the service module caused an explosion that caused damage to both oxygen tanks and a waste of electricity. The Command Module remained in service on its batteries and its oxygen tank, but they were usable only in the last hours of the mission.
