Meeting the Needs and Wants of a Community• The car industry in Detroit changed how
people live. We can now live further away from where we work, we can easily travel for shopping, entertainment, pleasure etc.
• When the first car factories were built they provided employment for many immigrants
• Today the car industry is meeting the needs and wants of the community by creating more environmentally friendly, efficient hybrid vehicles that run on alternative fuels.
The Future of the Car Industry• The car industry will hopefully continue to
research about new , more sustainable materials that can be used in car production. At the Ford sustainability lab they are creating car seats out of soy and using dandelions as a source of rubber.
• We hope that car factories themselves will become more sustainable with living green roofs, porous surfaces, natural lighting and natural habitats.
