Note

You can use format code 0 (zero) to eliminate any format from the report and only show the return section on analytical reports only.

Each report listed above requires intervals for both the return and detail sections. For more information about intervals, see Calculating Portfolio Level Batch Intervals.

See Comparing the Realized Gain/Loss Calculation on Performance Reports to the Realized Gain/Loss Reports to troubleshoot the Realized Gain/Loss calculation.

See Comparing the Income Calculation on Performance Reports to the Income Report to troubleshoot the Income calculation.

See Comparing the Unrealized Gain/Loss Calculation on Performance Reports to the Unrealized Gain/Loss Reports to troubleshoot the Unrealized Gain/Loss calculation.

DETAIL FORMAT 1

This format shows the most detail of all the formats. It shows all the components of important calculations, such as Net Contributions, Capital Appreciation, Income, Expenses and Change in Accrued. Each of the calculation components, such as Contributions and Withdrawals, is indented to make the report easier to read. If applicable, the External Fee Payments will also display.

This format is best used for the client that wants to see all the details and movement of assets and values in the portfolio. It is also a good format to show how the Beginning Value changed during the course of the period to arrive at the Ending Value.

Detail Format 1 is only available on analytical reports.

Tip

If assets transfer between group members during the quarter, the contribution and withdrawal calculations might appear to be over stated. Enable the Omit intra-group transfers from flows report setting to remove those transactions from the calculation on the report. See Omit Intra-Group Transfers from Flows for Group Performance for more information about this setting.

DETAIL FORMAT 2

This format shows a similar detail to Detail Format 1, but does not break out the elements of Capital Appreciation. This format is best used for the client that wants to see all the details and movement of assets and values in the portfolio. If applicable, the External Fee Payments will also display.

It is also a good format to show how the Beginning Value changed during the course of the period to arrive at the Ending Value. In addition, you can use this format to show Capital Appreciation as one line if there was activity in the account, such as a corporate action, that might have generated “Transfers” that you do not want to see broken out from Net Contributions.

Detail Format 2 is only available on analytical reports.

This format is best used for the client that wants to see all the details and movement of assets and values in the portfolio. It is also a good format to show how the Beginning Value changed during the course of the period to arrive at the Ending Value.

Note

If you have entered historical intervals and used Trade to NONE transactions to account for net contributions into or out of the account, these transactions are included in the contributions or withdrawals lines. Thus, if you run the Position Performance Summary since inception and compare the additions and withdrawals columns to the contributions and withdrawals calculations on the performance reports, they do not match. See Entering Historical Intervals for more information about entering historical intervals and how they impact performance report detail displays.

DETAIL FORMAT 12

The information displayed in this detail format depends on which report type you are running: an analytical report or a client presentation.

ANALYTICAL REPORTS

Similar to format 9, this detail format is very simple. It includes the Beginning Value and Ending Value, but, unlike format 9, it separates Contributions and Withdrawals into separate line items. It does not include External Fee Payments.

This format is ideal for clients who want a simple report, but want to see the contributions and withdrawals separated onto individual line items.

CLIENT PRESENTATIONS

The layout of Detail Format 12 on Client Presentations differs from the layout on analytical reports. Detail Format 12 for Client Presentations shows the net sub-total of most calculations, including Contributions and Withdrawals (or “Net Contributions”), Capital Appreciation and Income / Expenses, but separates Management Fees from other expenses for the period. If applicable, Transfers that do not net out will also display.

This format is best used for the client that does not want to see the details of most major calculations, but likes to see all the breakdown of fees and expenses.

ANALYTICAL REPORTS

Similar to Detail Format 9, this simple format shows the Beginning and Ending Value with Net Contributions. The difference between this format and Detail Format 9 for analytical reports is that the title of the Net Contributions line appears as “Contributions/Withdrawals (net)” rather than “Net Contributions”.

CLIENT PRESENTATIONS
