Web 1.0 began roughly in 1991; attracted 45 million users by 1996
This web was mostly about presenting information and not creating it
The pages used were static and the website owner was the only one who could
change the content
Netscape Navigator was a browser developed under the philosophies of web 1.0
Developing web 1.0 technologies required minimal scripting skills along with some
basic HTML knowledgeIt is a web focused on interactivity where viewers are allowed to change, share
anD Work with the content presented
The pages developed are static and the website owner is the only one who can
change the content
Blogs and social media pages like Facebook and YouTube are very good examples
of web 2.0
This web was introduced a few years later from web 1.0 in 1999 and had reached
more than 1 billion people by 2006

The main objective of this web will be to enable computers and other machines
to communicate with each other seamlessly so users can be presented with dynamic data
Semantic web will be able to organize and manage content automatically which
will make it easier to process and analyze data
A digital recorder called Tivo is a perfect example of web 3.0 because it helps you
find and record according to your personal preferences
It is speculated that the next web, which is 3.0, will arrive very soon and it is
known as the ‘semantic web’
Web space and development will be cloud based
Security will be of the utmost importance in web development
Instead of content, knowledge and process management will be basis
for design and development
Interactions will be virtual like in James Cameron’s movie Avatar
Designing for Web 2.0 and 3.0
A quick but thorough overview of the history, design and development of web 1.0 & 2.0 and the possibilities of what you can expect from web
3.0 & 4.0
