Designing a jacket, that celebrates the old and the new from our

history on the mountain.

In doing so, create a jacket that will provide the promise of performance, but also show some style and smart aesthetic which links back to

mountaineering heritage

How can Natural Fibre Fabrics, used in early 20th century

outdoor apparel, challenge modern performance garments?

Good enough to climb Everest...?

Insperation

Mallory Could Have Done It

In 1924 George Mallory and Sandy Irvine attempted the first successful climb to the summit of Mount Everest. They disappeared in cloud cover around 300 metres from the summit, and weren’t seen again until the preserved body of G. Mallory was discovered by a research expedition in 1999.

It was often thought that Mallory’s clothing was less than sufficient to survive such extreme conditions, and ultimately became a major factor in his mortality... However, with the discovery of his body, a project began to try and shed more light on whether Mallory did in fact make it to the top.

Mountain Heritage Trust, and a team of experts analysed the preserved fabric, and replicated his clothing. Through lab and user testing they found evidence to suggest Mallory’s clothing was more than effective enough to get him to the summit of Everest.
