DESIGNER DRYLOK MasonryWaterproofer penetrates tiny poresin the surface and bonds itself tothe masonry to act as an integralbarrier to stop water seepage.Ordinary paint only adheres tothe surface and oncoming waterpressure can force it off.

Prepare The SurfaceFor best waterproofing results,wait for a dry (rain-free) period.Surface must be clean and freefrom dirt, dust, grease, oil, formrelease compound or paint.DRYLOK is not warranted whenused over previously paintedsurfaces or on horizontal surfaces.DESIGNER DRYLOK may beapplied over surfaces previouslypainted with DRYLOK MasonryWaterproofer.

EFFLORESCENCE, a white,powdery, crystal-like depositvisible on the masonry surface,must be removed. DRYLOK Etch(liquid or powder formula) ormuriatic acid used according tomanufacturer’s directions, is aneffective efflorescence removalagent. Re-apply acid until allvisible efflorescence is gone.Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.

Patch & SealThe SurfacePatch all holes or cracks, especiallythe floor/wall joint with DRYLOKFast Plug or a fast setting hydrauliccement, and smooth the patchevenly with the surface around it.

Hint: To create a stronger patchand prevent the masonry surfacefrom drawing moisture out of theFast Plug, dampen the area withwater prior to patching.

WARNING! If you scrape, sand, or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD ISTOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH ASBRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOIDEXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure. Cleanup carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop. Apply Stir thoroughly before andduring application. DO NOT THIN.Air and surface temperaturesmust be 50°F, or higher. ApplyDRYLOK directly on baremasonry at a rate of 35-60 squarefeet per gallon. Apply first coatwith a DRYLOK Brush, a goodquality nylon bristle brush or theDESIGNER DRYLOK textured opencell foam roller using a crosshatch (left, right, up, down)technique. Work theWATERPROOFER into the pores ofthe masonry. Apply 2 coats.Dries to the touch in 2 hours.Allow to dry 3 hours between

coats. The second coat should be applied using short smoothstrokes to make sure you have an even dispersion of theDESIGNER DRYLOK color specks. The second coat may be appliedby brush, roller or spray. Spray specs D-310 are available atwww.ugl.com. When painting the inside of concrete fish ponds,allow DESIGNER DRYLOK MASONRY WATERPROOFER to dry atleast one week before putting into use. NOTE: When using 2 ormore containers of the same color DESIGNER DRYLOK, mixtogether to assure color uniformity.

Important: After applying thesecond coat of DESIGNERDRYLOK Masonry Waterproofer,carefully inspect the entire wallsurface for any pin holes in thewaterproof coating. Anyaffected area should be paintedwith an additional coat toensure satisfactorywaterproofing results.

Clean up: Use warm, soapy water.Use cheesecloth or a cloth as asink strainer to avoid cloggingdrains with themulticolored specks.

Clean masonry surfaces thoroughly with a wire brush.

Clean efflorescence withan etch solution.

Patch all holes and cracks withDRYLOK Fast Plug.

What Is Causing The Water Seepage? Whenever you discover wetness on interior masonry walls, findout what is causing the seepage problem.

Check for leaky gutters and downspouts, blocked drainage pipes,improper grading or ruts that direct water towards your foundation.

For best waterproofing results, correct all these problems beforeapplying DESIGNER DRYLOK Masonry Waterproofer.

Make this simple test: Tape a12” x 12” piece of aluminum foiltightly on all four edges to aninterior basement wall. Remove itafter several days. If the wall side ofthe foil is wet, you have seepageand need to apply DRYLOK. If theroom side is wet, it’s condensation;both problems can occur at thesame time. Remember, DRYLOK isalso very effective in reducing theamount of humidity in a space.
