Altro Quartz Tile is a homogeneous tile available in chip and marble patterns, providing endless design options for commercial, industrial or public sector applications. Static load testing that exceeds 3000 psi proves Altro Quartz Tile is ideal for heavy pedestrian traffic areas. These tiles are occupancy ready, eliminating the need for initial application of floor finish.

Vinyl composition tile attempts to lure you in with low installation cost, but don’t take the bait. Constant maintenance over VCT’s useful life can cause your total costs in less than five years to be more than Altro Quartz Tile’s cost after ten years!

Installation quickfacts for safety and slip-resistant flooring

Substrate preparation

• Patching materials used on the substrate must be Portland-cement based

patching compound. Gypsum-based compounds and/or silicate-based

admixes and sprays are unsuitable.

• Moisture-tolerant patching and leveling compounds must be used in wet

environments.

• Concrete surface pH should not exceed 9.9 alkalinity.

• Conduct moisture tests per ASTM F2170 on all concrete slabs regardless

of age or grade level. Relative humidity tests must not exceed 90% RH.

Test results are only indicators of current moisture conditions at the time of

testing and do not predict future moisture conditions.

• All concrete on or below grade must have a fully functioning and intact sub-

slab moisture vapor barrier.

• Substrate should be smooth, clean and dry.

• Do not use markers, pens, construction crayons, tapes or paints on the

subfloor. This may bleed through and cause permanent staining.

• Follow all applicable local, state and federal regulations and laws pertaining

to saw cutting, grinding and patching work of concrete; all work is to

comply with OSHA 3902 Respirable Crystalline Silica Standard.

Acclimatizing material

• HVAC at job site must be operational prior to installation.

• Set HVAC at 68°F / 20°C for 72 hours prior to installation.

• Rolls should be kept standing upright in a secure location to prevent

toppling over for a minimum of 72 hours at 68°F / 20°C.

• HVAC should remain at 68°F / 20°C before, during and 72 hours after

installation.

Fitting / laying

• Material should be checked for defects, unmatched dye lots, etc. If a fault

has been found, do not proceed. Warranty claims against defective material

will only be considered if the flooring has not yet been permanently bonded.
