ContentsProject 1:Journey for the 5 sensesLearning Outcomes1. Identify and explain different spatial types in architecture, and how they inform spatial use and experience2. Identify and analyze case studies to inform the design project 3. Create tectonic expressions of different spatial typologies which impact on the uses and experiential conditions of space4. Generate design through conscious consideration of section-plan relationship with considerations of human scale, natural light, materiality and textures5. Produce drawings (both 2D and 3D), modelling and verbal presentation to communicate and visualize architectural design and ideas.

Project 3: GENIUS LOCI Visitor Interpretive Centre (VIC)Learning Outcomes1. Generate design based on the unique character and conditions of the site context2. Generate design through conscious consideration of section-plan relationship with considerations of human scale, natural light, materials/texture3. Design a small scale community building which response to the site (site topography, history and socio-cultural events), functional program and users’ experiences4. Produce drawings (both 2D and 3D), modelling and verbal presentation to communicate and visualize architectural design and ideas.

There is another skyEmily Dickinson
There is another sky,Ever serene and fair,And there is another sunshine,Though it be darkness there;Never mind faded forests, Austin,Never mind silent fields—Here is a little forest,Whose leaf is ever green; Here is a brighter garden,Where not a frost has been;In its unfading flowersI hear the bright bee hum;Prithee, my brother,Into my garden come!
Analysis of the Poem:1st - 4th Stanza: The poet was talking about hope and an optimism to see through the darkness.
5th - 6th Stanza:The poet is encouraging her brother, Austin who's child and mistress died the year that she wrote this poem. She is guiding her brother with tender love to walk out from the darkness stage of his life.
7th - 10th Stanza:She is telling her brother that he has to move on to have another chance to be free and be loved again.
11th - 12th Stanza:As long as her brother keeps a positive mind, there’s is always hope and better dreams to be achieved.
13th - 14th Stanza:The poet is bringing a sense of new hope and encouragement to those who are lost in the darkness.

Concentric Spatial Typology
Journey for the 5 SensesProject 1b: The Journey for the 5 senses
Walking through the entrance, a narrow walkway in between two 6 meters high rough concrete walls. There is no railing on the stairs, so the user must touch the surface of the wall to guide them up the stairs towards the door.
The Monumental Maze
Through the door, there will be a dark walkway, as the user walks down the stairs, he or she will find a peeping hole to have a glimsp of what he or she is heading for, to keep them going.
Walking down the stairs, the user will see a seam of light seaping through the walls gap. The user will pause at the light and have a good look what he or she is heading towards.
Walking towards the center of the building, the user will find them-selves looking at the reflection of the sky from the pond and also listening to the sound of the flow-ing water.
Site erected: Slope with a small pond in the middle. From the exterior, the building looks like a monument protruding from the earth itself.
High concrete walls - It is use to create the sense of lonliness and to recreate how Austin feels during depression after his family died.
Linear Spatial Typology
Perspective View 1:150The Angular WalkwayThe design is derived from our precedent studies - Tempietto of San Pietro.
Using the lower ceiling design, we applied it in our design to inflict fear and darkness to the user of our building.

The walkway is a single directional building. The angles used on the design is to block out the light to create a atmosphere that provokes fear and depres-sion. People will pause in between just to touch where the walls are to find the exit.

GENIUS LOCIProject 2: Personal Interpretation and Concept Development as a response
My conceptic design start off as a rigid design. A repetetive of the same shape and form is used. The repetition of the shape symbolises the repetition of war throughout the history. The study model was origianally placed on the cemetery, due to the circulation. However, placing it on the graves would disrupt the peace in the cemetery, because the existing graves need to be remove for the building to be built on site. Hence the idea of plac-ing the building on site is disqualified.
