Spring | Fall 2014

DePaul Cristo Rey Learning Commons was a renovation that I took the lead interior design role on to renovate their existing chapel into a student media

center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The learning commons has integrated technology and abundant workspace for students to collaborate and study.

The Great Oaks Scarlet Tech Center is an addition to the existing Scarlet Tech District Office of the Great Oaks Campuses in Cincinnati, Ohio. I had the pleasure of having the main influence on the interior design conceptual and

schematic design all the way to detailing, furniture, and material selections.

Maderia Perin HS Media Center

Spring | Fall 2014

The Madeira Perin High School Media Center is a renovation of the existing library at Madeira High School in Madeira, Ohio. I was able to work with an MSA office program mentoring high school seniors to help ideate the creation of their new media center, leading the interior design with a couple of peers from our office ranging from architecture professionals and graphic designers. The project synthesized

the needs and wants of the students, morphing into a project conducted by MSA Architects. Updating through technology and collaboration spaces, we were able to come up with a very inventive and progressive work environemnt for the Madeira High School students.

Kenwood Country Club

Pool Pavilion PlanClubhouse Plan

Kenwood Country Club is both a renovation and addition to the existing clubhouse structure based in Kenwood, Ohio. The role I

played with this project was aiding in the hospitality style of a very traditional-tudor style design. The concept of this project was to capture a very masculin golf club style of design while keeping everything contemporary and matchingin taste to the existing

structure. A lot of influence came from the client and the board of members to the country club. A Pool Pavilion was a complete addition to the clubhouse; views of this can be found to the left. I

worked on the layout and selection of pool furniture.

Xavier University’s Alter Hall Renovation is a very progressive project for Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Comprised of classrooms, a students Honor’s wing, and Dean’s Suite, the project

evolved from a mere renovation into a very involved and collaborative design for students to really feel productive. The main goal was to be flexible and collaborative with all spaces, witht he idea to be very traditional as well as contemporary in styles. I worked on the furniture layout and

design as well as bringing a more contemporary style to the table.

Elevating the ambient experience of upscale

retail of the Scandinavian House by focusing on a hospitality style of

design. Staging the Nordic lifestyle in an architectural

encapsulating setting.

Moving the Smorgas Chef upstairs to the second

floor multi-purpose space for a more private dining experience. This opens

up the ground floor enabling a larger retail, cafe, and lounge space.

Drawing inspiration from the Scandinavian lifestyle, I propose staging scenes throughout the space, integrating elements of

lifestyle with fixtures for a unique presentation.

Rendered interior perspective for a conceptual presentation to client in Chicago, Illinois. This project was still under conception to be built as a Hilton Hotel attached to the Chicago airport. This interior reflects

the retail spaces of the hotel in the “mall-like” bridge between the two hotel towers, with a rooftop terrace for guests to peruse through the picturesque landscapes.

HILTON O’HARE | CONCEPTUAL RENDERING LTV INTERCON | SPACE PLANNING Based in the heart of Dallas, Texas, the transformation of this LTV Intercon Hotel into a Hilton Garden Inn, brings back contemporary styles to the downtown busniess district. This floor plan gives an example of the tyoe of work that I did for Looney & Associates.

Being inspired by Mies van de Rohe and the Barcelona Chair, as well as being interested in ergonomic design, I was inspired to

design a chaise lounge. With many chaise lounges that are used , they are not adjustable and don’t reflect the natural curvature of the body. This chaise lounge features an adjustable mechanism to

the desired seat splat height and angle to best place the seated body at ease when at rest.

The Barn Door was my creation for our hospitality studio in the Spring of 2013. As the first competition-driven studio, this was the aftermath of the semester-long design process to create a restaurant interior to be conceptually installed by the Retail Design Institute in Columbus, Ohio. Drawing inspiration from the food making process and garden to plate ideology, I created a space that reflected American roots of farming and rural nature, bringing together people for a unique American dining experience of fun, cultured, and urban styles.

THE VENETIAN PAIZA LEVEL 39-40SCHEMATIC ELEVATIONS FOR PRELIMINARY RENDERINGS

The Venetian Paiza Hotel in Macau, China features a casino level which is where most of the design work shown is worked on. With material studies and custom lighting designs in AutoCAD Elevations, these were sent to the renderer for further development to see the designs in a perspective study. Although not the final presentation renderings, these were prelimary to the design process.

The Crown Prince Presidential Palace and the Vice President Presidential Palace was the largest project that I worked on while at Wilson Associates. Based in the capital of Abu Dhabi, of the UAE (United Arab Emirates)most of the work of this project is now under construction. The renderings to the left as well as the next few pages illustrate some of the work that I did on the project.

From the top left, the carpet was edited in Photoshop due to improper color and shadows. To the bottom left, the stone pattern was custom designed and stone selection was also done by myself.

CP PRESIDENTIAL PALACESCHEMATIC CARPET DESIGNS

These carpet designs were for the Crown Prince Presidential Palace. Each design has significance to

the pattern based on where it is in the palace. A lot of inspiration was drawn from Arab culture. These

designs were used for schematic design as well as final presentation to the client for approval of designs.

Currently, the project is in production.

Designing within the limits of an abandoned brewery with the

notion of keeping the structural integrity of a historic site is a challenge to designers. With

the expectation of revitalizing the Guildhaus and transforming

it into a highlight of Cincinnati in the OTR (Over-the-Rhine)

Community, the urge to do something completely off of the

radar of the general program was completely desirable. Pulling inspiration from the relinquished

barrel vaulted spaces, designing a commercial and residential space

captured the radiating charisma that this community longed for. Whether visiting the Health and Wellness Center, fine dining with class and sophistication, staying

in a featured custom designed boutique hotel room, or visiting

Cincinnati’s newest and prestigious shoe designer in his

urban penthouse, this restoration is a model for Cincinnati’s growing

expansion and showcases the tastes and styles of the

surrounding community.

Focusing on the industrialized structural integrity of this building led to the concept of retaining the columnwork that created a gridlike forest within the open interior. To optimize this conceptual design, the integratiWWon of sustainable products with the exposed rustic nature of the site anticipated an inventive but exhilarating experience within this space. Captivating the user and presenting an alternative to penthouse design fueled the process of this urban interior.

With the spirit of completely immersing oneself into the world of architecture, this studio rigorously challenged the designer to creatively think of community needs and pleasures and to reflectively design to please an author or writer who was to work in the space. The program was to create a literary center in the Red Gas Light District of Cincinnati and to revamp an old parking lot into an attractive community gathering space. Inspired by Burnett Woods, a notable woods adjacent to the site, the organic forms led me to integrate the delicate but structural nature of curves into architecture and to create an aesthetically unique form of a building.
