LIGHT HOUSE
FASHION STUDIO SEREN
A boutique hotel located in Venice Beach, California. The design shows the soul of Venice, both in Italy and Southern California, is found in the canals and waterfront. Today, the inhabitants and passers-by overlook the turn-of-the century plan to bring a manifestation of Italy to California. Instead, what remains is a common appreciation for water, and in this case, its beauty.
UK fashion designer Vivienne Westwood’s Irvine, California design studio. Her peices embody a “Punk Renaissance” where sci-entific proportion and geometric shapes are skewed to become alluring and asymmetrical. The interplay of scientific design and alternative style so alive in her cloths will also be the founda-tion for the store’s interior design.
L IGHT HOUSE As one enters the Multiple Sclerosis Wellness and Resource Center, a well of light welcomes them into an unobstructed floor plan, freely incorporating natural light from outside and creating a liberated space that enables the highest level of mobility. Light, rather than walls, is used to delineate distinct spaces and moods, leading guests throughout all three floors. Let your environment help rather than hinder your mobility and lifestyle. Light House leaves all who enter at ease knowing they have found a space that caters to each individual’s needs.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, progressive illness affecting the nervous system. As there is no cure for MS and people are affected by the disease in various ways, it is important for people living with MS to find the diverse array of support they need. Light House, an MS wellness and resource center, provides this much needed service to the greater Los Angeles area.
Light House is a wellness facility providing both live-in and daily care for people affected by MS. These cares include support groups, a nutritional clinic and a financial counseling center for patients, caregivers, and family members. Patients and their loved ones also have access to Light House’s many other amenities, which include activity spaces, a rehabilitation gym, a spa and wellness retreat, and a resource library, where patients can keep up-to-date with the most innovative MS research. Whether you are newly diagnosed, have been living with MS for years, or know and care for someone currently living with the disease, Light House offers the tools and resources that will empower you to improve your quality of life.

Vivienne Westwood's pieces embody a Punk Renaissance. Scientific proportion and geometric shapes are skewed to become alluring and asymmetrical.
Westwood’s early career spanned the ’70s and ’80s British Punk movement, where she established herself as a designer using vivid colors and challenging proportion. The interplay of scientific design and alternative style so alive in her clothes will also be the foundation of the store's interior design. Cathedral grandeur will be juxtaposed with modern lighting, punk rock music, and graffiti.

In the early nineteen hundreds, the soul of Venice, both in Italy and Southern California, was found in the canals and waterfront. Today, the canals and watefront bring together a wide variety of residents, tourists, artists and street performers. the inhabitants and passers-by probably overlook the turn-of-the century plan to bring a manifestation of Italy to California. Instead, what remains is a common appreciation for water, and in this case, mainly its beauty. But the realities of modern life have shaped and changed Venice, California. Many of the canals were transformed into roads in 1929 and contaminated runoffs and overdevelop-ment in coastal areas caused Venice Beach to temporarily close in 2007. As many Americans begin to understand the impact their life-style is having on our planet, we need to begin to see water, not only as a source of beauty, but as an irreplaceable resource necessary for life on our planet.

At Seren, bicycle storage and rentals are also an
educational experience. the Aquaduct is introduced
as a pedal powered vehicle that transports water
and filters it while in motion. This is intended for
the one billion people in the world that do not have
access to clean drinking water. This resource center
not only allows people to donate an Aquaduct to a
family in need, but also informs guests on their own
water conservation during their stay at Seren.
