Senior Capstone ] [ Inspiration,

Research,

and Sketches. Reasons for Animal Abuse:

1.to control an animal

2. retaliate against an animal

3.To retaliate against another person

4.to satisfy a prejudice against a species or breed

5.to express anger through an animal

6.to enhance one's own aggressiveness

7.to shock people for amusement

8.to displace hostility from a person to an animal

9.to perform non-specific sadism

Happy Tails Rescue Center for Abused and Neglected

Dogs and Puppies

Why is this an important issue: 1. Animal abuse almost always leads to child

or spouse abuse

2. Abuse and neglect of an animal is just as bad

as abusing or neglecting a person

3. There are not many places for the animals to

go other than to the pound/ animal shelter Happy Tails interior and exterior is

inspired by old barns

Before beginning this project, I was asked to list things I am

passionate about, my favorite design styles, favorite colors,

hobbies, interest, and several other topics. These answers help

me to pick my senior design project. Our class then took those

answers and chose something to design that could help better

society. I am passionate about animals and I am against abuse,

which led to me designing a rescue and adoption center for

abused and neglected dogs.

Happy Tails wants to bring in dog that have been neglected or

abused, give them a quick recovery, allow them a homey place to

stay, and find them a new home with a loving family. Overall,

happy tails wants to get these dogs in and out quickly

Prime Care ] [ Medial Center

Prime Care is a walk-in, urgent care medical center located in Little Rock, AR. This space is located on the

second floor of an existing building. The floor plan and interiors of Prime Care are based off of the parti the coffee bean. The idea was to create a medical center that helped patients feel comfortable and calm, while also making the space feel homey by using elements of the coffee bean.

Boutique Hotel ] [ Group “Branding”

Project

For the Boutique Hotel Project we

were put into groups of 3 interior

designers and 2 graphic

designers. We had to “brand” this

hotel as a team from pens, note

pads, and shampoo bottle labels,

to the interior and exterior of the

hotel. We also had to figure out

ways to market our hotel. I myself

designed the lobby, while the

other two designers designed

some of the rooms.

Boutique Hotel ] [ Group “Branding”

Project

After designing and branding the hotel, we then

as a group had to create a space in our gallery

that people could walk through and sit in. This

way, everyone could understand the feel of our

hotel physically rather than just seeing it on paper

Healthy Home ] [ Home That Promotes

Weight Loss & Healthy

Living

This two story home in Charlotte, NC is designed to

inspire the client to be active and participate in

active living. Ways in which the family can be more

active is by using the home gym, taking the stairs,

and by using their swimming pool or outdoor

walking path.

Healthy Home ] [ Home That Promotes

Weight Loss & Healthy

Living

This home helps promote weight loss by using mostly

cool colors, such as blues and greens, which causes

people to eat less, compared to reds and yellows,

which increase appetite. There is no seating in the

kitchen which will help prevent the family from sitting in

the kitchen causing them to want to eat. The gym is

located next to the kitchen which allows the family to

view the gym while in the kitchen, which will hopefully

cause them to workout over eating in their spare time.

The living room has no recliners or overly fluffy furniture.

This may help the family to be less lazy. There are only

two televisions in the house: on in the living room and

one in the gym. The bathrooms are large and relaxing

causing it to be spa-like and reduce stress which can

also reduce eating.
