How to use the Design Ideas ® catalog.A picture is worth a thousand words, but we still find that our catalog photos require some written explanation. After every item in our catalog, you will find our item number, dimensions, minimum quantities, master pack and price (listed in bold with no currency symbol).

Our item number (usually 4 to 7 digits) is the number that you need to reference when ordering. Item numbers are specific by color, style and size.

Dimensions that we provide are the measurements of the item itself or of its gift box, indicated by the symbol , if it is so packaged—length, then depth, then height, as the item is intended to be displayed in your store. It can be difficult to communicate the scale of an item in a photo, so please do read the dimensions.

Minimum quantities are denoted by the number after min. This is the quantity in a case pack, and the multiple of an item in which you must order. Keeping items in full minimum quantities reduces the likelihood of breakage during shipment. Master packs are denoted by the number after mp. Our large-volume customers prefer to order in master packs; this number is for their reference. You need not order any item in full master packs.

Our prices are per piece, unless otherwise noted. Prices are effective January 1, 2016. All prices may fluctuate with market conditions—we reserve the right to change prices at any time. Formal notice of any price changes may not be provided.

New item introductions are noted in this catalog with the symbol . The date next to those items is the first day that they will be available to ship from our warehouse.

Before you place an order, please take a few minutes to read our Customer Service Guide on page 269. It lists lots of helpful information that, when followed, will help us process your order quickly and efficiently. If you prefer to work with people instead of a catalog, reference pages 270 and 271. In our society, recycling is a kind of social movement—in modern day Burma, recycling is simply a necessity. Every piece of glass must be recycled, as the alternative is importation at prohibitive costs. Fortunately, necessity creates fertile ground for invention. The glass blowers of this newly opened country have created exquisite little vessels to contain the oils and potions of traditional medicine. Our designers suggest alternative uses for our delightfully shaped Mason™ lanterns—candleholders as beautiful as any the hand of man can devise.

Natives of the high mountains of Laos carve these softly rounded containers with hand tools and tender loving care. The aromatic wood (a species of juniper) is believed to keep whatever is stored inside fresh and clean.

Creating these amazing baskets begins with gathering the leaves from the top of palm trees and stripping away the flesh of the leaf to leave only the supple central vein. Then within 48 hours of harvest the vein stems must be woven by a collective of specialized artists to form the basket; any longer and the palm veins become too brittle to work. The beauty of the intricate weaving pattern adds texture and subtlety to the basket’s soft shape. Fill it with fruit or mail or magazines. Or leave it empty to enjoy the wonder of the intricate pattern.

Burmese lacquerware has been prized for centuries. Flexible, delicate, but incredibly durable, this precious product had disappeared from view for almost five decades until Burma's recent opening to the West. Our design team rushed to the re-opened source of this exquisite material reprising classic designs and inventing new shapes. The process starts with the finest bamboo thinned to the consistency of paper and then layered 16 times over the course of several months with a lacquer formula handed down within families. The result is a collection of objects suitable for daily use that will last for centuries. The finish has a density and quality only the human hand can achieve. These elegant and luxurious items must be enjoyed and collected before modernization relegates these treasures to the museums.

Minimum Orders Minimum first-time order is $300 (or equivalent currency). Subsequent orders must total $150 (or equivalent currency) or more. For sample orders under the minimum, please contact your

Minimum Quantities Our products are packaged in case packs called minimum quantities (min in our item listings). You must order in multiples of the minimum. We will not break case packs. If you do not order in multiples of the minimum, we reserve the right to bring your order

into compliance by decreasing or canceling the item(s) in question.

Payment TermsFor first-time customers, payment terms of net 30 days may be granted if you submit credit references. We require 4 trade references and 1 bank reference. Otherwise, you should indicate whether you prefer payment by credit card or COD. Accounts inactive for 12 months or longer must submit new references. We charge a $20 (or equivalent currency) fee for returned payment

checks.

Credit CardsWe accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover. We highly recommend payment by credit card. We will authorize your card up to 10 days prior to shipment. We will not charge your credit card until the day your order ships. Please note, if using a debit card, your bank may use the authorization to take the amount from the account.

Because of this, we do not recommend payment with a debit card.

Special Services Same-day shipping is available most days for a $10 (or equivalent currency) rush charge. Please phone in rush orders by noon (central time). We can also ship your order blind and/or remove all product stickers for a nominal surcharge. Please call for specific

fees for these services.

Special Orders We know that some orders are more time-sensitive than others. If you place a special order for an event or a customer please make a note on your order along with the date by which you need to

receive the merchandise.

Shipping All orders are shipped Freight Prepaid and Add, FOB Springfield, Illinois, unless you specify otherwise. If you do not specify routing instructions, we will ship by the best/cheapest method. Freight

charges are based on the weight of your total order.

Refused ShipmentsRefused shipments are subject to a 20% restocking fee. If you choose to refuse a portion or all of a COD shipment at the time of delivery, you will be responsible for all freight costs incurred by Design Ideas, in addition

to the 20% restocking fee.

BackordersPartial shipments will be held until at least $75 (or equivalent currency) of the merchandise is available. We ship backorders under the same payment terms as the original shipment (including COD). Backorders will be canceled 60 days after the first shipment or when under $75 (or equivalent currency), unless you specify other-wise. These policies are not applied to new introductions whose availability date is later than the ship date of your order. We will ship new product as it becomes available, even under $75 (or equivalent currency) or more than 60 days after your original ship date. All backorders are subject to freight charges via the same freight method as the original order.

Substitution Policy In some cases, in order to keep your store fully stocked, we will substitute a similar GelGems® item if the item you order is not available. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding

a substitution on your order.

Returns You may return merchandise up to 30 days after you receive it. You assume the freight costs for the return shipment. All returns must be reported to our customer service department and all return shipment boxes must be marked with the Return Merchandise Authorization number that we will provide. We will credit your account only for merchandise that has been reported to us and then received by us in good condition. A 10% restocking fee will be charged to your account. Additional fees will apply if merchandise is not in its original packaging or if items have your

retail stickering.

Damage Claims Please inspect your merchandise upon receipt and report any problems to us right away so that we may correct them. In every case, we require damages or defects to be reported within 30 days of the date you receive the merchandise. Please phone or fax us and, if we would like to have the merchandise returned, we will

issue a Return Merchandise Authorization number.

Product QualityWe stand behind the quality of every one of our products. Please remember that many of our products are hand-made by craftsmen around the world. Variations in color and finish are expected. Products fashioned from recycled materials generally retain some of the marks from their former lives, bubbles and fissures that add character and depth.
