What are the issues of Operating Npps

• Need to reconstitute Design Basis with

supporting Main suppliers

• No connection with Plant information System

• Develop many small systems to support

operation and maintenance such as on-line

monitoring systems

• No criteria to develop new systems

Page 27: (Design/ construction) and Operation

IAEA

Questions

• What are the relations among new PIS and CM, Maintenance

DB, OPEX for Operating reactors?

• During construction, PIS is focused on design and schedule

to reduce the cost and meet schedule.

• PIS is not focused on operation, ageing, performance etc

• How to maintain new PIS without support supplier ?

• Need to culture change

• Expensive toy : Does operator want to buy this system ?

• How operator can use this tool for operation and maintenance ?

• Design change, replacement of component etc for future ?

Page 28: (Design/ construction) and Operation

IAEA

CM using IT technology

• CM using IT for operating reactors

• Already developed Tec. Docs( 1335,

1651 ) and Safety Guide-6

• Many Member States already used IT

Tech for CM

• Need to develop more

practical and realistic

guidelines

• Define the exact scope of works
