More on cirlces!

• Circles suggest infinity. They are also protective (think of protective encircling arms). They can also denote free movement such as a rolling ball or a more controlled movement such as a spinning globe.

Circles that centre and bring focus to company names/ icons/ logos

Color: This is a T-shirt brand, and the vibrant colours of the outer rings pull-focus to the white lettering of the company name

Virgin: Like a stamp, circle draws attention to the text.

Starbucks coffee: Here, the double circle serves dual purposes it leads the attention to two focal points. First the icon of the mermaid, then the worlds. And then as a circle seems to suggest infinity, I find my gaze being led back to the icon and the words.

The Apple logo

Apple A lot of curves/ half circle

-The circle symbolises perfection, wholeness and everything. -Similar to what Apple is trying to imply about their products.-Curves a softness and style which is quite opposite to the normal ‘hardness’ of manmade technology.-Curves friendly and inviting user friendly?

-The apple as a whole.- Fruit? – Delicious, temptation-“…an Apple with a bite out of it, indicating the acquisition of knowledge.”

Coca -ColaThe main circle of the coke advertisement-Movement Engery-Symmetrical and perfect bringing the attention to thecoke bottle placed strategically in the middle of the circle where the eyes continually focus.

Curvy lettering.- Womanly desirable similar to the curvy pin-up girl they used to use for Coke ads.

The curves

The image of the Panda is created through the use of negative and positive colouring in soft curves and half circlesThe entire panda itself seems to be centered in the middle of and imaginary circle.

Here, I feel, the curves of the Panda seem to portray the gentleness and fragility of the creature. Also it’s need for nurturing and protection. The circle itself is also representative of “protection” which is exactly what the WWF hopes to convey.

My personal Trainer

• The circular spiral icon is representative of movement and energy.

• A circle a the same time is a symbol of wholeness and perfection along with “nurturing”, which is a perfect representation for the programme.

Blooms and Gardens

Once again, here the circle leads one to focuson the green leaf. The shape itself has ‘nature connotations’ symbolizing “cycles”, “life” and “nuturing”.

I find this design clean and simple, yet stylistic. It brings across the kind of style their product/ service.

The curvesHere are some curves and circles, within hardsquare or rectangles.

The straightness of theSurroundings contraststhe softer curves and circlesWithin these designs.

LEGO: I circles are centering in themselves and withinthe confines of the hard sqareThey stand out as somethingFluid, mobile and fun!

Chardonnay: Once again Focus is on the curves of theGlass as it’s the only one that stands out.

Anne of Green Gables: Softness of lettering canAlso be a reference to nature.
