Gauge18 sts and 24 rnds = 4 inches/ 10cm in St st.To save time, take time to check gauge.
Pattern notesHat is knitted in the round from lower edge to crown. Flowers and leaves are crocheted sepa-rately, then applied to hat as shown. Embroidered tendrils are worked in chain stitch. When shaping top, change to double-point needles as needed.
hatWith MC and circular needle, cast on 68 sts. Join without twisting, mark beg of rnd.rnds 1 and 2: Knit around. rnds 3–8: *K1, p1; rep from * around.
BodyChange to St st and work until hat measures approx 5 inches from beg.
Shape toprnd 1: K2tog, knit to last 2 sts, ssk—66 sts.rnds 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12: Knit around.rnd 3: *K9, k2tog; rep from * around—60 sts.rnd 5: *K8, k2tog; rep from * around—54 sts.rnd 7: *K7, k2tog; rep from * around—48 sts.rnd 9: *K6, k2tog; rep from * around—42 sts.rnd 11: *K5, k2tog; rep from * around—36 sts.

rnd 13: *K4, k2tog; rep from * around—30 sts.rnd 14: *K3, k2tog; rep from * around—24 sts.rnd 15: *K2, k2tog; rep from * around—18 sts.rnd 16: *K1, k2tog; rep from * around—12 sts.rnd 17: *K2tog; rep from * around—6 sts. Cut yarn, leaving a 12-inch tail. Thread through rem sts, pull tight and fasten off securely.
Flowers Make 3Note: If not familiar with single, double and half double crochet sts, refer to Crochet Class.
rnd 1: With A and crochet hook, ch 4, join into ring. Ch 1, work 8 sc in ring, join with sl st to beg sc, do not turn—8 sc.rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as join-ing, ch 3, *sc in next sc, ch 3; rep from * around, join with sl st to beg sc and fasten off, leaving an 18-inch tail for sewing—8 sc, 8 ch-3 loops.
Leaves Make 3With B, ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 2 chs, hdc in next 3 chs, dc in next 2 chs, 5 dc in last ch; work-ing on opposite side of ch, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next 3 chs, sc in last 3 chs. Join with sl st to first sc and fasten off, leaving 24-inch tail for sewing.
assemblyReferring to photo, arrange flowers on front of hat. Sew flowers to hat with running st worked over sts of center ring. With double-strand of B, work a French knot in center of each flower. With single strand of B, embroider 3 tendrils in chain stitch as shown. Arrange leaves with rounded ends placed over center of crown. Sew to top of hat with running st along out-side edge of each leaf. ■
