Sherman’s Deli and Bakery is a true culinary landmark in Palm Springs and Palm Desert. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this Kosher-style family restaurant has been the “meet-ing place” for locals, vacationers and celebrities for over a half a century. Sherman Harris came to the desert in 1953 to visit a friend at Lawry’s Steak Ranch. He fell in love with the area, stayed on to manage the ranch and realized his true calling when he opened Sherman’s Deli and Bakery. A true family restaurant, it is now run by his son Sam and daugh-ter Janet… and the apples didn’t fall far from the tree. Sherman may not be with us anymore, but his presence is felt every day in every way. Sam and Janet remember bussing tables and

waiting on tables and listening to their father’s frequent remind-ers to “treat every one who came through the doors as though they were a guest in your home”. He loved his customers and his com-munity and they loved him back. Sherman’s loyalty and dedication to customer service is as evident today as it was then, carried out by Sam and Janet in the same caring manner as always.
