Dear members,Glad to know that the next issue of DERMAPEN is being released
and I am very happy to communicate with you all through this issue. We took over in the month of October 2018. The executive members are doing their best for the members and the Association. I would like to share some events that have taken place and many more to be held in the coming months.1. The first Manthan program (soft skills for consultants) was held at Mangalore
on December 30th and was inaugurated by Dr Ramesh Bhat, President, IADVL. This program is the brain child of Dr Chandrashekar. We will be having series of programs in many of the major cities of Karnataka in the coming months. The second one is being held at Mysuru on May 5th. It is an excellent program were a lot can be learnt with regard to communication skills, attitude and how to develop our emotional quotient (EQ). I would request all the consultants to participate in this program and enhance their skills.
2. Skin safarRath, an initiative by National IADVL, arrived in Karnataka on Jan 8th and travelled through Belgaum, Hubli, Karwar, Udupi, Manipal, Mangalore, Mysuru and Bengaluru. It was a grand success. The public were educated with regard to common skin diseases, steroid misuse etc through videos, pamphlets, short talks and press meet.
3. DERMACON INTERNATIONAL 2019 was held in Bengaluru and was well appreciated by all the delegates. Our heartfelt thanks to the organisers of this conference.
4. “SETUBANDHA”, a connect program initiated by Dr Chandrashekar, will be held in Mangalore.
5. The program “INNER CIRCLE” aimed at developing soft skills for postgraduate students is in the pipe line and will kick start from Mangalore probably in the month of June after the new batch of students join and later will be held in other parts of Karnataka.
6. We have decided to have elections for the post of office bearers of IADVL KN from 2019 onwards. The voting will be online, so I request all the members to register for online voting.
7. We have acquired IADVL KN RATHA. The objective will be to educate public with regard to common skin diseases, steroid misuse, abuse, quackery etc. We intend to have this Ratha throughout the year and try to reach people in villages, school and College students etc. The logistics is being worked out.
8. We all need to support the National IADVL theme for the year 2019, “FIGHT THE TOPICAL STEROID MISUSE”.
I am extremely grateful to all the EC members, coordinators, sister society office bearers, each and every member of the association for their active participation, guidance and carrying out various activities of the association.
With your support and participation we shall work with more zeal and passion for our Association.
