Devoted to Advancing Hispanics, Chicanos & Native Americans in Science Join over 3,500 attendees for four days of scientific research presentations, professional development, networking, exhibits, culture, and community. INFO  Travel ScholarshipsA SACNAS travel scholarship funds travel and/or lodging expenses to attend the SACNAS National Conference. 2012 Application Periods

Spring application: March 29-April 26For undergraduates, post baccalaureates, graduates, and postdocs. ALL eligible applicants are encouraged to apply during this period.

Summer application: TBDONLY for undergraduate summer program students. NOTE: Program Directors need to first enroll summer program.

Travel Scholarship Award Expenses covered by the award:

Lodging (room and tax only) at a conference hotel for four nights, and/or Air or train* travel to Seattle, Washington

* For train fare, awardee must travel within a 200 miles radius from the conference location

NOTE: award DOES NOT cover membership fees, registration costs, ground transportation to/from the airport/train station, baggage fees, or travel itinerary change fees.

EligibilityApplicants must meet all three eligibility requirements:

Eligible levels (based on level at time of conference): o Undergraduates; including two-year community & tribal collegeso Postbaccalaureates; up to two years since degree conferredo Graduate students; including master and PhD programso Postdocs; up to three years since degree conferred

Application ProcessThe application will be available starting March 26, and applicants will have until April 29 to submit the application along with required documents. A complete travel scholarship application consists of the following:

Online application form 500-word statement of purpose Transcript document:must verify name, institution, discipline, and fall 2012 enrollment for undergrads and

grads.o For postbacs, transcript must verify name, institution, discipline, and date when degree was

completed.o Postdocs are required to submit a CV.

One letter of recommendation (except for postdoc applicants)Please refer to the following materials for detailed application instructions:

Award Allocation - Review CriteriaThe following applicants will receive priority consideration for an award; however, award allocation is not solely based on the criteria below but is also subject to application review and availability of discipline-specific funds.

1. First-time applicants with accepted research abstract2. First-time applicants without an research abstract 3. Returning applicants with accepted research abstract

NOTE: Applicants will be notified about their status 5-6 weeks after the deadline. Once notified, awardees will have 3 weeks to register for the SACNAS National Conference. Failure to register by the deadline stated in the notification email will result in travel award to be withdrawn.
