Library Resource The college library houses more than 17,500 books, 36 periodicals, 221 CDs and

DVDs. It has INFLIBNET (N-List) facility for accessing 97,000 e-books and 6000, e-journals, braille books, visual scripts of all the famous historical places, civilizations, forts and temples etc., very rare books such as the wealth of nations and autobiography of all national leaders and manuscripts and inscription of Hoysala, Chalukyas etc. The Advisory committee

Significant and important initiatives implemented F Selection of hardware and software for library automation, Bar-coding of books for

speedy circulation, increasing in circulation of books, internet facility, Wi- Fi facility and

subscription of e-resources worldwide and library open access system.

F The college organizes orientation programme at the beginning of the year for the

students of First year BA/B.Com. In that programme the chief librarian explained about

the rules and regulation in general and students are motivated for reading.

F Each student get 2 UGC books, 2 regular books, 2 books for SC and ST students

from Book bank scheme and 2 books for minorities.

F During the summer vacation, Students admitted to allow using the library to enhance

their learning through reference workbooks are issued to students to get prepared well in

advance for the final year examination.

F Library books exhibition to encourage library use by students.

F Reading room facility for faculty and students.

F Providing suggestions and guidelines to design the activities of the library as learner

centre, depending on the needs of the users.

F To monitor the procurement of library collection to add the latest books, journals,

magazines, CDs, DVDs, etc. to make the library more effective as learner centre.

vacation.

Ø On all working days – 12 hours 9.00a.m to 9.00p.m for day scholars and for Hostel

students is extended up to 10 p.m., reading facilities with their own materials

Library has made provision for user to access more than 97,000+ e-books and 6000+ e-

journals under the N-LIST project of INFLIBNET centre (an IUC of UGC) Ahmadabad.

Accesses to these resources are available through authentication. Each individual

teacher has been given separate user id and passwords to access full text resources

directly from publisher’s websites via internet within the library as well as outside the

library. Moreover, users getting access to full text resources from internet which are

available through open access archives

Manuscripts

Reference Satisfy the queries from users using various type reference tools are available in the library. It may consist of Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Geographical sources, (Maps & Atlas) and other reference books available in the library particularly from original and reference book category.

Reprography Xerox copies of reading material (books, article in periodicals, and university question papers) are provided

ILL (Inter Library Loan Service) Library has institutional membership of sister institutions Libraries like Sharnbasveshwar Arts, Sharnbasveshwar Commerce and Sharnbasveshwar Science College Gulbarga & Dr. Ambedkar Arts & Commerce Degree College Gulbarga, where in Sharnbasveshwar thirty to fifty books can be taken at a time for a period of thirty days.

Information deploy and notification (Information Deployment and Notification) Library has a notice board at the entrance to notify the user about various issues and activities of the library. New arrival corner also exists in the library.

Download Students and teachers have internet access in the library. They can download the required material. Printer facility has been made available.

Printing One Printer is available in the library for the teachers to take printout of the required material.

Reading list/ Bibliography compilation List of books is available on the computer Subject wise, Author wise, Title wise searching is available.

In-house/remote access to e-resources Library provide access to N-LIST resources which available on line through user id and password via Internet. Library also provides access to full text resources available on internet through open source.

User Orientation and awareness First year B.A./B.Com and First year post graduate students are given library orientation program in the beginning of the academic year to make them aware of the library collection, and learning resources available for them in the library.

The Library staffs are always at the service of the Library user and extended all required support to the user, i, e Facilities • Information support. • Print media clipping, articles on education and employment. • Book Bank Scheme – providing books to the students at the time of examinations • Providing Syllabus copies and model question papers, previous years question papers of

university exams • The library staffs are having adequate knowledge and qualified to help students and

teachers in finding the books. • The students are helped by the library staff to access the books they desire. • The supporting staff is always on their toes to help the staff as well as the students in the

library .Guidance is given to students who compete in various competitions like exams, quiz, essay writing, preparing KAS/IAS/IPS competitive examinations and for NET/SET examination.

• Newspapers clipping service to make them aware of what is happening in their concerned field. New arrival display-this regular exercise helps the students and staff to know the books added in a particular subject in a particular month.

• Our college library is open access system library in which students or teachers are directly allowed to go to the book stacks and get the document/ book of his or her interest.

• The poor, minority and needy students are issued set of books from Library Book Bank Scheme for whole academic year.

The special facilities offered by the library to the Visually/physically challenged persons § Care is given to the visually/ physically challenged library users. § Braille books & Audio CD’s are being made available to visually impaired persons. § Special seating arrangements made when they visit the library. § There are plans to implement more facilities and services to the visually/ physically

The suggestion box is kept & will be supervised every now & then. The committee tries to look in to the suggestions given by the students. At the same time at its level best committee tries to solve the problems.
