Mission

The Department of Corrections enhances public safety by providing effective programs, re-entry services, and supervision of sentenced offenders in a humane, cost-efficient manner, consistent with sound correctional principles and constitutional standards.

Application Process

For employment consideration, individuals must submit an electronic application through the Commonwealth’s Recruitment Management System (RMS) at: https://jobs.agencies.virginia.gov/.

Applications must be completed in full to receive consideration. This includes specific information in the announcement related to education, work history and certification/licenses. An incomplete application may eliminate individuals from consideration for a position. Therefore, there should be an explanation of any gaps in employment from high school to present.

Consideration for an interview is based solely on information provided in the application. A resume will not substitute for a fully completed application. Applications which include references to "See resume" will be considered incomplete.
