Among the various forms of pollution, indoor and outdoor air pollution is one of the most harmful to human health. It can derive from various causes, such as aerosols, airborne particulates, and radon gas. These problems can be effectively solved by using accurate tools measuring the presence of harmful elements in the air and implementing the necessary measures when the recommended thresholds are exceeded.It is also important to regulate and plan the ideal physical/ environmental conditions at the workplace in order to promote the well-being of workers and avoid feelings of discomfort that may compromise health and safety.Italian Legislative Decree no. 81/2008 (the health and safety at work legislation) classifies the microclimate in the work environment as one of the physical agents subject to risk assessment.

ZAir is a Zucchetti Facility software solution that deals with the smart collection and management of environmental parameters in all work environments, in schools and in healthcare facilities.The software provides precise analyses of physical parameters for the evaluation of environmental conditions, promptly detecting and reporting any anomalies and thereby protecting the safety of workers.

Comfort and safety are two fundamental conditions for people to perform their work activities at best.The concept of comfort at the workplace relates to the worker's psycho-physical well-being based not only on subjective variables (given by the individual's activities and clothing), but also on environmental variables that influence thermo-hygrometric wellness (temperature and air humidity, mean radiant temperature, air speed), acoustic comfort (noise), and lighting comfort (brightness).Unfortunately, variability in such micro-climatic conditions and alterations due to various forms of pollution at the workplace jeopardize the health and safety of workers, causing both temporary discomfort and permanent damage that can lead to illnesses and diseases. The ZAir software collects, analyzes and monitors a wide range of envi-ronmental parameters - such as temperature, humidity, air quality (meas-uring the concentration of hazardous gases), water quality, brightness, electromagnetic fields and radiation - so as to help businesses, institutions and organizations to define appropriate conditions of environmental comfort (in offices, production sites, warehouses, schools, protected areas, etc.) for workers and protect their health and safety.ZAir tracks, visualizes, analyzes and shares information with a view to achiev-ing and maintaining adequate conditions of wellbeing and comfort, promot-ing the ideal balance between performance, cost and environmental sustainability.

Inventory and master record: records all registration information connected with the asset managed. This information is important for calcu-lating indicators relating to environmental parameters and for fully exploit-ing the tool’s capacities.

Measuring tool

Formulas and Benchmarking: the set of features dedicated to data analy-sis via the application of any formula required. It is possible to create “virtual” meters for monitoring entities that are calculated rather than measured directly, and display them in a graph according to the main analysis parame-ters (by time, by building/area/office, by geographical area, etc.). The Bench-marking feature allows users to compare the data of an asset with that of another "similar" one, and make any necessary improvement.

Alarms: permits management of technical and diagnostic alarms linked to all the parameters managed. It allows the alarms and the relating operations to be managed by emailing warnings and notifications to the monitoring staff.

Mobile: an extremely user-friendly native app for smartphones and tablets that allows real time checking of data and information.

Measurement instruments

To aid the collection and measurement data, ZAir can make use of any hard-ware device capable of transmitting real-time information on the environ-mental parameters to the central software. ZAir also can be connected to an innovative, latest generation hardware device with an international patent: a unique multi-sensory device capable of automatically monitoring up to 26 different environmental parameters.

The device is easy to use as it does not require installation: simply place it in the environment to be monitored and enable it; the system will automatically record the data for various environmental parameters and communicates it to the ZAir software via WiFi. In this way, the data relating to the environmen-tal parameters is available in real time via the web or via the app, and can be managed and analyzed to produce reports, statistics and information required for decision-making purposes.
