IntroductionEducation: The Department of MOMEI delivers courses in mechatronics, mechanical and power engineering as well as in industrial product design at both BSc and MSc programs of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In the Mechatronics engineering MSc program the department offers specialization in adaptive mechatronic structures, Optomechatronics Biomechatronics, while in the BSc program in Mechatronics equipment, Optomechatronics and Biomechatronics. In mechanical engineering MSc program our department administered specialization in precision mechanics-optics. The department conducts courses of informatics, measurement technology and system and control technology for full years. At the mechatronics engineering BSc and MSc programs our department delivers courses for full years of mechatronics, optics, automation, signal processing, computer control, application of microcontrollers, sensors and actuartors, modelling and simulation in biomechatronics and precision mechanics. Results of our students: Students' Mechatronics Section is based in the MOMEI department and gets support for students' projects. Great results have been achieved in international Pneumobil competitions with the pneumatic vehicles developed by students. Our students also participated in international mobile robot contest (RoboCup) and won III. prize in Graz and II. prize in Istanbul. From 2011 the mobile robot – developed and implemented by students in cooperation with the Department of Automatization and Applied Information Technology from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and MOMEI – both in Russia and France successfully featured in the annual Eurobot competitions. Since 2011 our students have successfully

participated in the yearly organized Eurobot international robot competition, with mobile robots designed and built by themselves with the support of MOMEI and the Department of Automatization and Applied Information Technology from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. In the summer of 2015 MOMEI, first in Europe, is going to host Half-size MicroMouse contest in line with the announcement of the All Japan MicroMouse.PhD program: During 4 years we had 42 PhD students. Currently we lead 18 doctoral researches.International relationships: Our participation in CIE – International Lighting Society - , in the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IEEE IES - Control, Robotics and Mechatronics Technical Committee) and in the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC TC 4.3 Robotics) is ongoing. The most important international background to our extended activities in mechatronics and control technology is provided by iSpace Laboratory Network that coordinates the work of research groups in the field of intelligent spaces, and by a joint Japanese-Hungarian and a joint Norwegian-Hungarian laboratory. In 2011 the IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM 2011) was held in Budapest, organized by MOMEI. The department is actively participating in the work of the Biomechatronic Cooperative Research Center and has a working group with the Semmelweis University Orthopedic Clinic and with the MÁV Hospital in Szolnok. (Hungary). We have further connections with IASTED Technical Committee of Biomedical Engineering and Wessex Institute of Technology.
