ACTIVITIES FOR THE SESSION 2019-2020

• An interdisciplinary activity on the “revolt of 1857” was organized

by the departments of History, English & Hindi on 18th July, 2019.

• On 6th August, 2019 the department commemorated 74th Hiroshima

Day by conducting a seminar on the causes and aftermath of the atomic

bombing on Hiroshima in Japan by US warplanes. The activities

included presentations by students and documentaries for a wider

knowledge of the event. A poster making competition was also

organized in which many students participated.

• On August 14,2019 International Youth Day was celebrated by the

department. An inter-ship debate competition on “Privatization of

Education” and a poster-making competition was also held on the

theme “Problems Faced by the Youth Today”.

• On the 16th September 2019 World Ozone Day was celebrated by the

department jointly with Zoology Department. Through presentations

students were made aware about the depletion of ozone layer and find

possible solutions to preserve it.

• An educational trip was organized for the students of the department to

Kangra & Chamba from 6th October-8th October. The main aim of the

tour was to do study the different types of temple architecture styles in

Himachal Pradesh. The report of the field trip was also submitted.

• The World Heritage Week was commemorated from 19th

November 2019 to 24th November, 2019 to make people aware of the

preservation of cultural heritage and monuments. Heritage week

commenced with the Heritage Walk from Navbahar Chowk to the

Viceregal Lodge. A photography competition was also held. This was

followed by Heritage Quiz on the theme “built, cultural, natural and

living heritage” of India & Himachal Pradesh. The club also

organized folk singing competition and sketching competitions

wherein girls sketched the Marian Block.
