The site visitor will probe and clarify any areas of concern and pay particular attention to the duty hour items and to items with a substantial number of non-compliant responses. If the site visitors interview with the residents shows that past problem areas suggested in the survey data have been corrected, he will document this in his report to the RRC. The site visitor will also indicate in the report any survey questions or phrases that were misunderstood by the residents/fellows.

The resident/fellow interview is an important component of the site visit and generally opens with a brief overview of the accreditation process and the purpose of the site visit. Residents/Fellows may be asked what instructions were provided about the resident interview. The residents/fellows are informed that if an adverse action results the site visit report may be shared with the program.
