Program Actions Since Last Assessment Presentation

• Create a baseline of clearly defined program outcomes based on Bloom’s Taxonomy to better establish student learning objectives.

• For each of the expanded and focused program outcomes, a careful analysis has been performed and we are implementing a plan to measure effectiveness of student learning for each outcome which will be utilized in future assessments so that trend data may be obtained.

• Continue to utilize the Industrial Advisory Council membership and include their input in the assessment process.

Program Actions Since Last Assessment Presentation (Continued)

• For faculty assessment of student capstone portfolios, a rubric has been developed for direct measurement.

• It is also planned to utilize opinionaires from industry professionals as an indirect measurement of student capstone portfolios.

• Sponsor and promote various activities of the CADD Club to promote positive student retention. CADD Club activities will be assessed with indirect measurements of student learning outcomes.

Measures of Learning and Service Outcomes

• Sample project drawings, class assignments and laboratory exams will be evaluated by faculty for quality and proper usage of industrial standards. This also includes pretest-posttest assessment.

• A sample of these assignments/project drawings/exams will be maintained in a portfolio for evaluation (on a rubric scale based on the program objectives) by the advisory council members.

• The prototype of a manufacturing tool will be checked for feasibility in production using CAM procedures. This assessment will be in a form of a random sampling of course projects.

Analysis of assessment data

Program Quality Improvement Report 2009-2010 11

The questions for this assessment came from the outcomes that are associated with ADDA accreditation in the area of Introduction to CAD. It appears from the results of this exam that students fared well and:

• All of the students are close to mastering CAD software with enough skill to be known as a novice Draftsman

• There were 2 areas at which students placed lower than 80% • There were 6 areas at which students placed only 80%.

Action Items for this Assessment1. More emphasis on the items mentioned above will be made in CAD

1013 Introduction to CAD2. An additional assignment or project will be made in class to reinforce

the weak areas.
