Our undergraduate program has been the top rated civil engineeringdepartment in Turkey based on the results of the National UniversityEntrance Examination. On average, the Department admits studentsfrom the first 0.3% of more than 1.5 million college-bound candidateseach year. Furthermore, the undergraduate program is evaluated byABET as “substantially equivalent” to accredited programs in theUnited States. Our graduate students originate from the top threeundergraduate programs in the country, as well as from othercountries such as Iran, Sudan, Bangladesh, Greece and Jordan.

The requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree in CivilEngineering include the completion of minimum of 144 credit hours offormal course work and 60 days of approved practical training inindustry. The M.S. program in Civil Engineering comprises of aminimum of 24 credits of course work and a Master's thesis.The Ph.D.program in Civil Engineering is composed of a minimum number of 24credits of course work planned under the supervision of an advisorand a Ph.D. thesis carried out according to the regulations of theInstitute.

Structures LaboratoryStructures laboratory has full-scale capability for testing structural components and seismic rehabilitation.

Construction Materials LaboratoryMaterials laboratory is specialized in concrete technology. The laboratory has facilities for strength and durability testing as well as nondestructive tests.

Soil Mechanics LaboratoryGeotechnics laboratory, where Karl Terzaghi started his pioneering work in soil mechanics, is named after its founder. The laboratory is equiped with the apparatus required to perform all the standard soil tests including the triaxial test (UU,CU,CD) and the direct shear test.
