Whilst researching demographics, specifically the similarity and differences between what music the different generations listen to, I came across a study that compared what music the average 64-year-old and the average 13-year-old listen to. For the experiment, 5,000 people from each age category were chosen and their listening habits were recorded. The results found that there were as expected there were differences in their listening habits but also quite a few similarities: The top artists for the average 64-year-old listener included a mix of current and popular artists along with a number of artists from the past. Whilst researching demographics, specifically the similarity and differences between what music the different generations listen to, I came across a study that compared what music the average 64-year-old and the average 13-year-old listen to. For the experiment, 5,000 people from each age category were chosen and their listening habits were recorded. The results found that there were as expected there were differences in their listening habits but also quite a few similarities:

The top artists for the average 64-year-old

listener included a mix of current and popular artists along with a

number of artists from the past. In comparison, the top artists for the

average 13-year-old includes only the most current artists, due to their age alone. This being said, there are

seven artists (shown in green) that overlap in the top 20 for both age

categories which means an overlap rate of about

35%.

The artist of my music video is Lana Del Rey whose music is said to fit into a number of genres such as: Dream Pop, Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Indie Pop, Baroque Pop, Trip Hop and Sadcore.

Therefore her music such as the song I am using (Gods and Monsters) would therefore be played on the following Radio Stations:

• Absolute Radio• Radio 1 (After 7PM)• BBC Radio 6• Radio X

Lana Del Rey is suitable for these radio stations as they all play genres that her music falls under.
