Descrição Description

A Ilha é um poema sinfónico encomendado e dedicado Banda Musical de Fornos para celebração do seu 100.º aniversário. Fornos é uma localidade do Concelho de Santa Maria da Feira, junto à confluência entre os rios Douro e Paiva. Junto à localidade existe uma ilha chamada “Ilha do Castelo” ou “Ilha dos Amores”. A obra pretende retratar esta ilha, partindo dos dois nomes, sendo construída em duas partes: - A primeira “do Castelo” está construída numa linguagem modal e com ritmos irregulares que remete para um ambiente sonoro medieval; - A segunda “dos Amores” tem uma escrita tonal romântica, com um tema melódico que explora a expressividade na execução.

A Ilha (The Island) is a tone poem `commissioned and dedicated to the Banda Musical de Fornos (Musical Band of Fornos) for the celebration of his 100.º anniversary. Fornos is a locality of Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, nearby the confluence between the rivers Douro and Paiva. On the river exists an island called “Ilha do Castelo” ("Castle Island) or “Ilha dos Amores” "Love Island". The piece is a portray of this island, starting from the two names, being built in two part: - First "Castle" is in a modal language and with irregular rhythms that remits for a medieval sonority; - Second "Love" has a written tonal and romantic, with a melodic subject that explores the expressiveness in the execution.
